hmm...not sure what to tell you on the fans. i have an open back and have two fans blowing almost across the surface of my bulbs. it works ok...but i need an 8" fan in my canopy pointed towards the water and another 8"fan in my stand pointing at my water.

i tested my po4 w/ a buddies Hach colorimeter and any guesses what it was???





















0.02ppm!!! pretty sticking low if you ask me. but i still have some bryopsis. i'm thinking it is trapping the stuff it needs to keep growing. i keep blowing it out though...i'll win the battle...i'm sure

got two new corals today!!! a LE Soli and a suharsinoi. these have been on my most wanted list for a while

the colors aren't that great yet and they are stuffed under an overhang to acclimate for a while. i'll move them out slowly...then mount them low in the tank. i'm running out of ROOM!!!

oh and i saw Travis's BK400 internal...and DANG that is the BIGGEST skimmer i have every seen. GIRTH BABY! the pics don't even give it justice. i think it is 18" around...HUGE!!!

i've been eyeing those two pieces for a long time finally got a frag. welli had a frag of the suharsinoi quite a while ago but it decided to RTN on me after it was settled in the tank and growing?? no idea what happend. lets hope this one goes ok. i didn't pay nearly what i should have for the two frags...but i have some frags that he is gonna get once they grow out. still not even but i'll make it up to him someday

otolith - the flash actually makes the skimmate look darker in the pic then it actually is in person. he was skimming a little wet. but i could not see the inside riser at all still w/ a flash light

i thought they were cheap for what they are. :lol: trade bait...i have a few of those but they need to grow out yet like the crayola table, chips, gomezi, pink w/ yellow tip prostrata, my purple w/ neon green acro, and a few others. they are just babies and need to grow.

spazz - he usually sells me a few here and there when i ask. they are not really quite big enough to frag quite yet. but that way he has at least a back up if they go to heck. i have a gomezi he sold me and his died...so i have a frag waiting for him when mine grows up.

you'd have to talk to him but when we see Borneman we'd be coming that way

Lunch, I was impressed with that PO4 reading when I saw it. I got to thinking about the bryopsis as we were talking about it trapping detritus to feed it. I know it does do that but I think it is also just plain able to grow in a low nutrient environment. I have some that grows in my overflow teeth. Every month or two I scrub it off with a toothbrush to the point where you can't see it anymore but it always grows back. When it is scrubbed off it is too small to trap detritus so it is growing from nutrients in the water alone.

otolith, I can't believe how dark the skimmate looks in that pic. I have been skimming very wet lately and the skimmate in person is a very light tea color. So that picture is a bit decieving.

spazz, I do make it up to Minneapolis on occasion. Maybe the next time I come up we can meet and I can bring a few frags. Most of my stuff is still growing out though.

thanks travis. i will be looking for frags when i get the 300 up and running. right now my 120 is packed. and i need grow out room in there. so i have time. the 300 wont be up and running for a while. im still trying to plan things out. hope you guys make it to both the spring fling and the feb frag trade.

What is the spring fling? Probably won't make it up in February as it is a busy month. We are going to see Mike Paletta in Cedar Rapids on the 11th, our club meeting is on the 18th, and we are going to Omaha on the 25th to see Anthony Calfo. I know the next time I am in Minneapolis I really want to see that Dart NW running on Energy's tank.

the spring fling is the eric borneman weekend. thats what the president of the club is calling it. too bad you wont make it for the feb frag trade. there will be a frag tank, dual di filter system, ald a kalk reactor up for raffle. plus tons of frags. on your way up here you guys should swing by verticals house and take a peek at his system. its worth the detour.
as for the test skimmer it will be interesting to hear your comments on its performance. seeing you have that monster on your tank. lol when you do look at it i would like you hear your thoughts on bubble size and density of bubbles in the chamber.
one of these days when im on my way home from omaha i need to swing on in and take a look at yours and lunches systems. how far are you guys from souix falls? i would have the semi truck.
