LOL three days...thanks for reading it all. you got the whole trials and tribulations. thanks for the compliment!

58's are nice sized for appartments but if i had to do it agaiun i would have gone w/ a 75gal.

what are your plans for you 58gal? equipment?

Lunchbucket

i don't know how you do it man!!

you caught those spawns of satain! congrats!! you just getting rid of them or you replacing them w/ some other fish? how many fish you have in there now?

Lunchbucket

 The numbers are dwindling quickly. I just need to catch Tucker, then I'll be Hippo-free and hopefully see good growth from my SPS and zoos again.

I'm thinking about a harem of Squampinnis Anthias, or maybe a bunch of green chromis. Maybe a 4-line Wrasse. I'm definitely looking for a new Copperband Butterfly.

Hmm. Lemme add em up.

Naso Tang
Blue Hippo Tang
Purple Tang
Percula Clown (7.5 yrs old)
Ocellaris Clown (2) (1.75 yrs old)
Blue Damsel (7.5 yrs old)
Lawnmower Blenny
Blue Mandarin - male
Green Target Mandarin
Bengaii Cardinalfish

Looks like 11, soon to be 10.

I'm in an apartment, so 58 is about as big as I can go. I'm starting out with a 58g RR with a 30g sump, Mag 9.5 return with a SCWD, and a couple of maxijet 900's. I'll be controlling with an AC JR. EV-120 skimmer. Corallife Pro 150W 10k MH and 2x 55W Actinic PC's (to start off, I plan on upgrading in 6-9 mths before I add any SPS). I want to do a DSB, but I'll need help with it.

Sounds like with the "current" discussion (pun intended), I may be shy on flow?!? Whatcha think?
Zac

If you modify your maxijets like I showed in my log (or "My Son's 29g" thread), you'll increase your flow quite a bit. I think you've got everything set up to have a successful tank.

doesn't sound too bad. but i would add more flow. maxijets are not my thing..i would do something else like a closed loop IMO. also i would ditch the SCWD...they limit flow a TON

Lunchbucket

I also have 2 mag 2s. I suppose I COULD ditch the SCWD, and build 1 or even 2 closed loops with the Mag 2s. How much does the SCWD actually limit flow? Has anyone tested the reduction in flow at various GPH?
Zac

don't waste your time on mag 2's for CL's.

i don't remember the flow limiting amount but if you search i'm sure you could find it

Lunchbucket

Zac, the SCWD can receive up to 1400gph, and you'll lose 20% of that coming out of the SCWD.

Congrats Eric. Now double it. :D

Eric, congrats on all the posts.

At least you, unlike your SD counterpart, post pics on a regular basis. :D

Glad to see all your corals settling in. Before you know it, you're going to be in need of an upgrade. :)

zmal - thanks
melev - thanks for posting a head loss on the SCWD

otolith - yeah i post a LOT :D my corals are settling in but the PM is a gonner :( i'll post some pics after my water change today.

oh and my wife has been bugging me for a bigger tank...which i have been putting off...but i did just email Bob on a quote for a new tank :D :D

Lunchbucket

Sucks on the PM. I know where you can find another, but we'll have to figure that out some other time. :)

So, gonna go with a 120? 180? I can't believe your wife is bugging you. You are lucky!
