I saw the new avatar about 40 minutes ago, and was wondering if you just changed it or if I was just oblivious for some time now.

The new site looks even better than before.

What size monitor / desktop do you run? Mine is 1024 x 768 and your site scrolls off the screen for me.

It's the first thing I noticed when I clicked on your thread. Now I can't even remember what your old one looked like. :)

I've been wondering if I should continue to use this avatar (sans the hat, of course), but can't think of anything else I'd want to change it to...Man, you should see some of the face crunches we've had lately. One guy shattered literally every bone in his face. It's unbelievable.

Anyhoo, the next time our paths cross, I'd like a frag of that coral that Travis pointed out. :D Is it a cerealis???

melev - oh my wife is doing more to the page now. messing w/ fonts and it looks way more subtle and clean now. check it out when you get a chance tomorrow or so.

it scrolls off the screen for me on our desktop but on the laptop it is fine. so i need ot make it about 1024x768 so i make it more friendly for people....i'll do that tomorrow...thanks for the heads up

otolith - gotta have some sort of face puzzle piece put together as your avitar. maybe a rotating worst case of the month contest or something :D how is everyone messing up thier face so much?

otolith - consider a frag of that YOURS...plus whatever else i have that you want. no idea on an ID. got it from kevinpo and he never gave me an id. just told me it was coming in brow but it will be amazing when it colored up. it is a sweet piece that i really like. it glows big time...pics don't capture it

I'll keep the avatar I have, will lose the Santa hat after the new year. I was somewhat inspired by moonpod and his pelvis fracture avatar. A couple of the fractures were due to car wrecks, and one was in a lumberjack who had a log smash him in the face. He has the WORST, most impressive fracture I have seen. EVERY bone in his face is pretty much shattered.

Thanks for the future frag. That thing is awesome! I'll be sure to get some other good stuff from you as well. :D

otolith - OUCH!!

spazz - yes sir. i'll let you know when i am coming to the cities. might have to come pick them up some place in the cities though :D

i just got a Canon Powershop S2 IS TODAY! so more pics are to come...so we can compare my old camera.

i was trying to take some good pics w/ the new camera and EVERYTHING was turning out very very very blurry if i zoomed in at all. i tried the macro and super macro...which worked great if i didn't zoom at all.

ok when i was trying these pics i was up about right next to the glass. i used to do this on my old nikon 3100 to get close enough on the opject. well i decided to sit on my coffee table about 4ft back from the tank and i started goofing around zooming in and DANG! i got some very veyr close pics! i was too close i guess? how far back would i need to be for best pics? obviously a tripod would help but i'm excited now that i got a few good pics. need to mess w/ the colors though..that will come w/ learning i take it

just one of the first pics that worked ok...i'm sure they will get better. i believe this was on auto or P (which is maual but auto shutter and fstop) ok this camera stuff is confusing!!

not the best pic but i'll get better :D no tripod either that would help

don't know about blow you away...it's gonna take 10yrs to figure out all the stuff on this camera! glad we didn't get the digital rebel or a Nikon D50 :D

Lunchbucket

Looks like that camera is going to work out pretty well. Can't wait to see some awesome macros when you get the hang of it.

just changed my ONE of my 400w bulbs today. changed my 20k XM to a 20K XM :D the bulb was run 10 months exactly. most people that i know of never shade or adjust when switching from and to the same bulbs.

i was thinking maybe i should shade the tank w/ 1 layer of window screen for 5days or so.

any thoughts?
Lunchbucket

When I changed out my Hammy 10k for XM 10K, about 10 months old I didn't put any screening or change the lighting period with no ill effects. Should be noted that these were ONLY 2 175s over my 58 ;). But I might err on the side of caution if I was you, your tank really looking great after the set back, and wouldn't want to risk anything.
Just my $0.02

i was thinking better safe then sorry also. i guess i'll put one layer on for safe measure.

guess i knew the answer just wanted to hear it from someone else

Lunchbucket

LOL...the parallels continue...

Eric,
I just switched out my AB10K DE's in favor of a pair of Hamilton 14K DE's.....
I raised the lights up a couple of inches to compensate for a PAR difference. The AB10K's have a higher PAR rating than the Ham 14K's, but the AB's were a year old, and the Hamiltons werent...

Nick

I never acclimate when changin to the same bulb. It has never caused me problems but probably isn't safe practice either. I do, however, always recommend to other people that they should acclimate.
