Eric,
Silly question here....
I realize it was cheaper to convert your Tunze powerhead to a Stream than for you to buy a whole new Stream......but do you think it was less expensive to buy a Turbelle and and a conversion kit than it was to buy the Stream?

I know what Streams cost, dont know what Turbelle's cost, which is why I'm asking.

Nick

maxx - when i got an amazing deal from a buddy of two turbelles (7200 and 7300) for like $250 TOTAL...yeppers it was WAY cheaper :D

but cheaper to buy a turbelle and then upgrade..prolly not

added a few new things to the tank today.

i was at my buddy (tangdiver)'s place. he has a "show room" in his double garage. i was there yesterday and had him hold a coral for me...so i brought the wife back today.

she instantly saw an little 6-line wrasse. i had one till the hyposalinity treatment of march 05...he didn't make it through :( he got some sort of swim bladder disease or something. anyhow...now i have a baby sized 6-line wrasse. i sort of feel bad as i am trying to keep my nutrient very low. but how much can a tiny 6-line add :D also i think i'm on the low end that i have to add nutrients to keep my system running good..have some light colored sps

also picked up a coral. you guys KNOW i had to come home w/ one coral ;) i was thinking it is a A. Loripes or something close to that. i'll get pics later. i aclimated it and it is sitting in the interceptor bath. it will be out at about 11 or 12pm :( i'll have to turn the lights on just to see it :D

i'll post pics later

I love the six-line wrasse. I couldn't imagine my tank without one. They have so much personality to the tank. Hope this one lives a long and exciting life in your tank.

they do have a LOT of personality..that is why i love them too. i used to have the biggest 6-line i had ever seen. it was about the size of most false percs.

thanks

hey lunchbucket why are you getting rid of the deltec? at the rate your going you will try out every skimmer on the market in the next 2 years. just think if you saived all that money you could have upgraded the tank to a 180g by now. :D

geeze what do i have to do to get a rise out of people? i've posted 3 decent replies w/ pics in the last 2wks and barely any response.

Lunchbucket is old news :(

I don't think that is it. I think there are so many new threads in this forum, the better in-depth diary threads scroll off page too quickly. I think people prefer to read shorter threads with a few posts, and get a little intimidated by longer threads. Imagine if the threads weren't split at 40 pages any longer - how many people would open up mine or Weatherson's threads if it was on monster session?

Quit yer cryin Nancy boy! I'm at work, in the car, downloading these pics at less than dial up speed, (15.5k... We just got the snow you guys had....cold and wet weather keeps idiots inside and out of trouble...for now.), So dont act like no-one cares! I'm just hoping my connection doesnt time out!

The new coral looks good...have you looked at A. nasuta as a possible ID?

Nick

i thought i would get someone to post a funny response!! i was right :D

melev - true true. but look at all the valuable info that your thread and weathersons has in it...it's a shame peopel won't read them as much as they should

In KC we got a slight dusting that was gone by 10am after they forcasted 4-8", these meterologist are always right (hence the sarcasm) =D

How much snow did you guys get?

I've been trying to scheme a way to find a cheap turbelle pump all week. :) I think I'll just bite the bullet and get a controllable stream.

Your growth is amazing once again, LB. Glad to see things have turned around for you. That deltec skimmer is a monster! I'm looking at an H&S toward the end of the summer. I might entertain the notion of a bubbleking once they come out with the next line of [smaller] skimmers.

In the last 2 years, I've slashed 2-110w pumps from my system and now I have stronger flow and better skimming with smaller pumps. You gotta love that German equipment! It'll only take 15 more years for those purchases to transpire into savings though. :D

elephen - i got NOTHING. i think Travis got some (58miles south of me) it dumped about 60+miles south...lucky me :D

Ewan - they ROCK. i would not have a tank w/out a Tunze!

thanks...i too enjoy the growth...but i wish some of my fav's grew quicker!

the AP600 isn't too big. i'll have its bigger brother the APF600 here on friday...so if you want an AP600 let me know :D i too want a "small" BK but not sure when the come out or how much they will be

 they are spendy but worth every penny. you never mentioned anything about your wife being mad at me for putting the idea of upgrading in your head :D

I have the same problem. It seems like all the corals I don't care for too much grow like weeds, and the ones I really would like to get nice colonies out of, grow soooooo slooowww and remain like little stumps. Although, some of the piece I didn't really care for as frags I now like in their colony form.
