Nebraska got yo back! LOL

Daniel

and also iowa got your back:D

i agree the tank is still looking great when are we gonna have the meeting at your place so i can see it with my own eyes though:p

BTW do you have any close up pics of the candycane coral?

Lunch, Now that you have had your new skimmer for some time now...........Lets get your review:) Both good and bad.

kau_cinta_ku - thanks man. not sure when we will have the meeting at my place...maybe once i get rid of the bryopsis and the corals grow out some more :D i dont' have any brand new pics of the candycane you need one?

arconom - been running since what march maybe??? working great. great skimmer and definately worth the price. one thing i don't like is that there is no valve on teh outlet side...but they are designed to run w/out them also that air valve clogs up fast w/ as much salty air as i have in my sump area. i have run it w/ out the tap for quite some time. run some lighter skimmate but it works great.

best thing to do is clean out the neck every night w/ a soft bristled brush and some hot water. get the gunk out of there and let the skimmer perform at optimal efficiency.

i am looking forward to getting my hands on the new ER impeller and upcoming ER updates. that is my latest skimmer fetish news :D

Awesome news Lunch:)

I can't believe you brought up the same thing I have been thinking about more and more and that is WHY??? No Valve on the outlet?

i pulled bryopsis last night and dang not much is growing!!! wierd thing is that the stuff i do pull seems to come out of the rock easier then before. also some places almost seem to have a mushy detitus covering on them or around them.
That was the first sign in my tank that the end was near. The bryopsis peeled off much easier, and it became more pale in color. Just keep pruning it and soon the battle will be over. I still suggest you get a few lettuce nudis - they did wonders in my tank. Oh yeah, and use a turkey baster to blow away that detritus every day. The bryopsis feeds off of that stuff.

aronom - i hear you man....not sure why they do that...the design i realize but i still not sure why.

Dudester - sounds good that i am getting close to the end hopefully!!!! i'll keep pruning about 2x's/wk and getting a lettuce nudi could get those hard to reach places :D i do try to blow the stuff off the algae and rocks too

well been using prodibio for about 2 months now and tank looks better then every...BUT i'm not sure if it is the Prodibio, increased changing of Rowa and Phosban, or the start of using AZNO3. i started using AZNO3 to limit nitrate for the bryopsis to eat up and the changes in PO4 media has eatien up the PO4 too.

colors on most of the corals are good. there is one that show signs of recession from the base up. not sure if that is the AZNO3 or what??? it has slowed and looks ok. my blues look better and some of the others colors look great too.

haven't used the Reef Booster yet though. wanted to get the bryopsis and the nutrients down first. i'll use it the day before i do my next water change so it won't sit in the wtaer that long.

thought i would update everyone

Finally updates!!!! Nice to hear things are going good. What are you doing for the Hydroids? Mine started disappearing after I started using the Rowaphos.

mine just started going away...they are still there but not as much on the rocks. no idea maybe just burned themselves out??

i'll try to get some pics soon.

i think i am gonna get back into clams again. reason i got rid of my three is that my yellow eye kole tang picked on the three i had in there. the tang died about 2wks ago. i got pinched mantel disease from an new clam i brought in also and it was all over from there. i've been eyeing a few at my LFS and i would like to get a least one again...i miss them

maybe the clams will spark my interest more..i really love clams!! good filters too for the water IMO

Lunchbucket

Eric,
Sorry to hear about the Kole tang, it always sucks to lose a fish.
We had some nasty storms here and I lost two fish during the power outtages...my chalk bass and my male Onyx perc.

Sometimes, the hobby kicks you in the balls and ya just dont want to play any more. Other times its so incredibly rewarding that nothing could make you happier, (other than your wife or kids).

There are some great looking clams around...I've been tempted to get one or two more...

Nick

Here is my Derasa clam this is old picture about eight years old i donate this clam when it got to be 15" long it was very good filter for my tank i still may try to get one but i remember all the water the clam was shouting out from the top of the tank to the hardwood floor when it closed up fast.

maxx - yeah it sucks loosing a fish....i guess we roll w/ the punches. now i have a very small low bio-load. i'd love to add another fish but not sure what? i LOVE copperband butterflies. i had a couple from marine depot but they kept dying :( i should try to get one locally the day it comes in and see if i can get it to like my tank w/ some PE mysis. the last one i had ate but died one night and was found w/ a blotch on its side...infection??

sorry about you fish losses. your tank ok??

Zoom - that think is HUGE!! it would blow water onto your floor!! :eek1:

Here are my clams.. I used to have 8 in my 40Br, but cut down to three.

This pic shows my Crocea and my possibly Hybrid. I've had the possible hybrid for about 1.5 years, and the Crocea for about 1 year. They are the newer additions clam-wise to my 40Br.

This is my Derasa, Mr. Biggie. Even for his size in my tank he hasn't bothered much at all... grows very well too. I am more into the sand-dwelling clams than the rock-boring ones.. maybe due to their size or the peacefulness they have on the sand (When they are not blowing into it!)

Electrobes - 8 in a 40gl breeder!!!! good lord you have a ca rx on there???!!

those two croceas are beautiful! derasa's can be very beautiful too...but grow pretty quickly.

all this talk and pics of clams makes me want one again!!

Lunchbucket

Lunchbucket - ha... part of the problem was not having a reactor! But with the three I have everything is going well and they are growing happily.

Eric,
Its limping along.

I was seriously de-motivated after losing ALL my acros. I currently have 3 clams, 2 montiporas, I seritopora, 1 stylophora, the Tomini, 3 onyx clowns, (lost one in the power outtage, bought two to compensate), a Ritteri anemone, a royal gramma, and a long spined urchin.

I was just up in Chicago for my cousins wedding and stopped by http://www.rods-reef.com/ to pick up the replacement clowns. What I saw in his store impressed me and got my motivation up and running again.

Its going to take some time, but I'll be back in the swing of it.

Nick

melev - slow down there tonto

maxx - sorry to hear buddy :( hope you get everything back in teh swing of things!! noticed you haven't gotten around to updating your thread.
