Lure out a mantis....

OK, I know I have a mantis in my tank, I put him in myself. I got him from someone on here in fact. He is about 3/4 of an inch long, and all light green.

I havent seen him since I put him in....... EVER!

Is there anything I can do to lure him out of the rocks?

All my snails and hermits are still alive. I almost assume he isn't having never seen him, and not having lost an animal in the onth or so he has been in there.

I want to make sure he is alove, or use the tank for SOMETHING, or maybe just find another mantis!

Hiya.

From having a stomatopod, I've learned to look for the signs of life, in order to reassure myself that she's still in there, happily nestled away in some slimy den :)

1. Do you hear clicking (the sound of your mantis bashing a tunnel)?
2. Look near the base of your rocks. Does it look like the sand around there has been disturbed / tunneled around in?
3. Dead invertebrates, especially snail shells.

...

Short of that, get a pair of tweezers and gently dangle a chunk of krill or something in front of where you think the den is. This usually lures my little N. Wennerae out if I want to inspect her growth and health. But only if she's hungry :)

Never have I lost a snail or hermit, and I once heard some clicking but wasnt positive it was coming from the tank. I put a fish in because he was beating another fish I had in my main tank (no not as punishment), and even he hasnt had any problems. I just feel like maybe the mantis is dead.....

I saw him today!!!! So freakin excited. I will post pics shortly, I just know the pics will suck, I was in such a rush to get the cam to take pics.
