I am wondering how long these fish live for. I have had mine for over 2 years and last night she was dead. I bought them from a fellow reefer 2 years ago that was paired with the male.

Anyway she showed no sign of disease or any strange behavior, she was eating fine and had great color and she was very active. she was just fine early that day and dead that night. Perhaps she was just old? What are your thoughts?

I think 5 years was the longest for me. I recall someone posting on this forum with an 8 or 9 year old one!

We kept a "she-male" for about 8 years...she was a great fish, and had been the dominant female, but changed sex when she ended up alone.

It could have been a lot of things that could caused the fish death. Just get another one and strive to keep it longer.

I think she mush have been 6 years old at least. I had her for 2 years and the guy I got them from said he had them for about 3-4 years.
