MACNA 2010 - Orlando, FL - September 2-5, 2010

I really can't wait for this! I will just start saving some $$$ now, lol. If anyone needs advice about Orlando as the date draws near don't hesitate to ask :)

Yes. I am already planning my vactaion around it. Go down early take the family to sea world.
Are there any non-tourist traps near? Any state parks or that sort of thing? Within say, an hours drive?

I highly suggest Kelly Park in Apopka. It houses Rock Springs, which instead of just making a big boring lake, forms a small swift river that is shallow enough to wade in a little bit down from the spring, then it forms a large pool around which pavilions and such are situated. I had great fun there as a kid hunting for shark teeth in the substrate. And it's only $1 to get it :). Just be sure to get there early, because they close when filled to capacity which usually happens before noon on the weekends.

Tomoka State Park up in Ormond is really nice and almost never crowded... Small pavillions and such are there and it is situated near the beach, Halifax River (Intracoastal Waterway) and the Tomoka River!!! Great places!!

Anyways, see you all at MACNA!!!

Hi, Does anyone know how MACNA treats attendees with kids? My son will be 10 next year and this sounds like a good idea for a little family vacation. Will I have to register (and pay) for him like me and my wife if we go? Thanks!

Everyone in your family will have a good time, especially with Disneyworld so close by. MACNA is a family-friendly environment, and you'll find younger kids with their parents, as well as school-age hobbyists excited to see what they can discover.

This last macna kids under 12 were free, I am assuming it is going to be the same but I am interested to know as well.

While we were able to allow kids under 12 complimentary access to the daytime events, if they needed to be fed at the evening events then they needed to purchase access to those events (each meal cost us money and kids meals were not provided). Orlando's provisions may be different based on what their situation dictates.

The MACNA team is still working on what the arrangements will be for preteens and younger.......as it stands I believe a fee will be charged for the banquet.
That could change .
Email anyone on the team (Address found at the MACNA XXII site)
and they will be happy to answer any questions.

Hey, if you want to know the best place to eat there, IMO it is and will be Boston Lobster Feast.

Costs a little (under $50) but I had 6 lobsters, 3-4 lbs of crab legs, and way to much else to eat. Man oh man am I ready for the food again.
