MACNA questions

I've been reading these threads about the MACNA convention in Houston and it looks like it was incredible. I'm seriously thinking about going to it in Pittsburgh next year. So I have a few questions.

I noticed on their web page that they have extended the best discounted rate of 75 dollars a person until 10/09. That looks like a great deal considering what it will be. How many of you guys purchased this package and is it worth it? The only reason I ask is because I always tend to buy the best package when I go to something like this, only to get there and find out I really didn't need everything it included. Would it just be the easiest way to do it?

Next question, how large is it and what are the best days to be there? Which would also help me decide the package and plan the trip better.
I'd just like to know what most of you did whether you went there for the full 3 days or only went for one day etc.. Because there's a lot we'd like to see in Pennsylvania if we decide to turn it into a longer vacation, so I was just wondering if it would stay interesting for 3 days or after 2 days you've pretty much seen everything there is to see, or if you only really needed one day. I wouldn't mind making 3 days out of it if it's worth it. The seminars sounded very interesting.

Next, what does the banquet consist of and what day? Also, do you have to buy the raffle tickets in advance online or are they available at the show also? I just didn't know what the advantage would be to buying them now unless they sell out that fast.

Thanks a lot for any info you can provide.

It was awesome...if you can, go all 3 days or you will miss alot of great info. The banquet is Sat. nite and well worth the expense

Speakers are going to start sometime around mid-day on Friday and continue until late afternoon/early evening Sunday. It is best to stay for the whole thing, especially considering the raffle is the last thing and you have to be there to claim your prizes.

The banquet is a full course, sit-down dinner. There is also a speaker afterwards, although we are not sure at this point who exactly will be the banquet speaker. We still have about a half dozen speakers to add, so things might change.

And, you can buy raffle tickets throughout the event. We just added that feature so people could buy them in advance on their credit cards.

As a member of the two year ago hosting club, and a willing participant this last year heres a couple of things to note...

Typically saturday is the busiest day for something like this... this means that friday, and Sunday are good days to be around (less people more accessability to vendors, good deals last day, etc)...

Allthough typically some of the best talks are on saturday (including as Steven said the banquet)...

Just signed the wife and I up for full registration to MACNA 2007. Sure glad they extended the discounted rate. What a deal! Hope to meet some of you guys there.

There are now over 200 people registered as attendees for next year. Be sure to join the largest educational event/trade show/party in the marine aquarium keeping community!

I am very pleased to announce that Sarah Lardizabal and Dr. Catherine McFadden have been added to the speaker list.

Just a reminder, be sure to get your registration tickets by the end of this month because as of Jan. 1st prices for the full show go from $100 up to $125.
