macro help

I just purchased a Nikon D70 on ebay with the 18-70mm lens. I am totally new to dslr's. I am wanting to take photo's in macro but not wanting to purchase a macro lens at this time. I have read about lens magnification and reverse rings. I don't know what size I need to look for on either of these two options. Can someone help me out? Thanks in advance. Linda

The reversing ring will have a nikon mount on one side and the other side will match the filter size for the lens you're using. It normally is on the front of the lens, or on the front lens cap. Just looked it up for you. It is 67mm.
