Macro of Scolymia

I shot this image about 5 minutes after the Actinics first came on this morning... This image was not retouched in any way.

This is a wonderful photo! Not retouched... not even sharpened? There are distinct halos around some of the sharper areas, is sharpening turned on in your camera?

Once it was resized, I did sharpen the edges just a bit, but I don't consider that to be retouching, as it's generally considered an integral aspect of post-processing...

The colors, contrast and density are 100% natural, which is what I was refering to in my comments above.

The lens is a Prime, and it's dangerously sharp!

Definitely beautiful colors there! Sorry if it sounded like I was trying to lessen the true quality of this photo. Again, great shot!

nice pic. what kind of coral is it? got a pic of the whole thing?
It's just a typical Scolymia, and not a very pretty one either.

What made the shot what it is; was a totally dark room, with just the first set of Actinic lights coming on and illuminating the translucent tentacles the way that it did.

Here's the same basic shot as the first picture, when illuminated with white diodes last night, while working to get just the right shot... The picture in the OP was an absolute fluke, because my camera was still setup this morning, and I figured I would try to snap a quick shot if possible, and I got it on the first attempt.
