The move itself is finally over. We made the trek from Salt Lake to Plainfield. The trip took about 2.5 days with a 26' truck towing a car and driving the other car. Making the trip was my little tank of ~20 gal. I took out most of the rock, leaving a couple of pieces in the bottom to cover the sand as well as some zoos that were on the sand as well. The rest of the rock and corals were put in buckets and moved that way. Thankfully, there wasnt much loss from the move. Both of my clams didnt make it though :( along with a pocillapora and valida frag. The 2 fish and the other corals did just fine with only a few minor accidental frags. Guess I will have some of the Utah frags available for some of the Chicago area reefers. All things considered I am pleased with results of the move.

As it turns out I didnt need any water. I was able to bring enough with me and got my RO/DI system up and running.

Welcome neighbor! (I'm just north of you)

and WELCOME!!! from the south end as well......

Thanks everyone. I do need to find a fish store pretty soon to get some food... all of my frozen cyclopeze and brine shrimp did not enjoy the move as much as everything else.

As for frags there will probably be another post in the next couple weeks once I make sure they are healthy and I can get some LR rubble to attach them to. But I will for sure have two ~1" frags of my green birdnest... one of my favorites! as well as frags of a blue millie and a rose millie. Probably a brown digi frag somewhere! Sorry no camera=no pictures!

Welcome! Sorry to say I hope you didn't move here for the fish stores! lol...

There are a few decent ones but most are bad. You have to check out the following stores. Below is how I would rank the stores in the area.

Rods Reef - Must!!! Rod is one of the most knowledgeable people in the business / hobby. He treats customers better than anyone in the hobby for sure! Great selection of coral & fish and his Onyx clowns are well known in the hobby!

Oceans Floor - Must - The store and selection are amazing!

Deep Reef - Excellent selection of rare fish

Welcome to the Plainfield area!

I figure I can get brine shrimp and cyclopeeze anywhwere... But I will certainly try to get by some of those shops when I get the time and money.

For those who care... I left Salt Lake City because I got a job! I was only in Salt Lake temporarily while I went to grad school. Now that I have finished my PhD (Chemistry) in Utah and am doing a postdoc at Argonne.
