Made up my mind

Mr Vitko:

I have made a decision that i think i am going to purchase your wavebox. This will be going in a 75g RR tank. Should i put the box on the same side of my overflow, or the opposite side?

I am alittle concerned about this box weaking in the silicone seams in the tank. I dont know how old the tank itself is, since i am not the original owner of this tank. But all i can tell you is the tank is in real good shape.

Should i be concerned about the wavebox putting to much pressure on the glass panes?

How much flow will this box be pushing out?

Thanks
Tim

The wavebox does increase stress on seams and shorten tank life, if it is a well built name brand aquarium it should still last a long time. Most brand name aquariums have a production date tag visible from inside the aquarium under the trim, it is between the trim and the glass. The wavebox generally reduces tank life by about 10%. The flow is complicated to calculate and the wavebox flow is not a complete flow solution, if you have no other flow a 6000 Stream would likely be a better choice. The wavebox is more of an additive for a more natural flow and better detritus removal/suspension as well as polyp expansion. To claculate the flow you need to take the volume of the wave and multiply it by the frequency. The volume is calculated as length*widlth*height of the wave in inches divided by 231 to get gallons and then take half of this number as the wave is a wedge and thus half of the rectangle you calculated. This number is then multiplied by the number of waves in a second and then multiplied by 360 to get gallons per hour.

The date it shows below the trim is May 2005. So the tank itself is about a year in a half old. I forgot to mention before, i have a PanWorld 50px as my return pump and (2) Seio 1500s, along with the wavebox. Does this sound like enough flow for a SPS tank?
