Madkat, would you mind maybe giving a price rundown on what everything ended up costing you? I am seriously considering building an LED fixture, and want to see if the cost will be do-able on a college student's funds. Thanks

lesson learned, make sure to check all LEDs against grounding on the heatsink.
lost 9 fuses and then 2 LEDs because I chipped them with the screwdriver.

will light them tomorrow wihen Radio shack opens.

Glad you had the fuses!

To those who don't know, when soldering LEDs its best to have the wire coating touch the soldered joint not stripped way back. Doing this will help eliminate shorts to the heatsink.

AHHHH, I had light and then popped the 3 white fuses.

Blues stayed on, with the exception of 2 UV, they won't light with the battery, so I think they are bad.

Ghellin,

I cannot get my strings to dim with a pot< can I not hook a pot to the blue, white on the HLG-185H-48B or 240?

So I need an arduino to dim my LED's. I cant just use a pot? or would I just use 1 feed from the driver and not both blue and white from each one?

Also check your 9v with a multimeter since there is virtually no load, it could be pushing 12v or even more.

first problem was my "dc" was actually a 9v AC.... so it went 120V ac to 9v AC. my other one is registering 13 but it is a 9v 300mA DC

Yep that is common for dc converters you can try limiting it with a resistor not sure which one but if you have a few you can play with you might be able to get it adjusted below 10v
