I can't decide which pump to get. I want a pump that is powerful, pretty quiet, reliable, and energy efficant. So which one would you choose?

Now, I can't speak for the OR2500, but I have a Mag 7 and an OR3500. I don't know the size of the 2500 but I do know that the 3500 is HUGE compared to my Mag 7. So you might want to take a look at the 2500 and make sure it won't be too big for your sump. The two pumps I have are going to be on two different size systems, but the amount of displacement that the 3500 would do.....it just wouldn't work in place of my Mag 7. Again, it's huge, lol. And of course I can't find measurements on the 2500.....

Ever thought about Eheim? I changed from a Mag to Eheim will never go back. Quieter, less watts, less heat, just as powerful than a mag. It might be a little more expensive, but it's worth to me.

I second the Eheim (1260 or 1262). They are nicer than the mags.

Then again I have a Rio 2100 that has been working for me over two years now, is quiet, energy efficient, and was cheaper than anything else comparable. :)

or2500 pumps are great pumps. i have used them several times in sumps and are super quiet. also i belive they use less electricity. you may want to look into an otp pump, they are virtually an ocean runner at a fraction of the cost. that is the route i went on the last sump i put togther for a customer, and they just as nice.

For those of you who chose the OR2500, why did you go with it and is there anything you don't like about it?

I voted for the OR2500, but I'd take an Eheim first any day :-)

The ORs are nice, but they're kind of like the "supermarket house brand" version of the eheims; they seem a little cheaper built. OTOH, I've never had one fail me, but I've ran eheims for years longer that have never failed, either.

Otoh, if you find a Mag7 that's quiet and energy efficient, I suspect you'll have a collector's item :-)

So I take it the mag7's are loud and not so efficient?
