Mag Question

I`m dosing B-ionic 2-part. I`m raising Mag levels with BRS`s Mag chloride. I was reading around and I`m wondering if I need to be mixing Mag choride with Mag sulfate to raise my levels? I think I`m OK doing it the way I`m doing it, but I just want to make sure.

Not necessarily; you might if you want to save $.

5 parts magnesium chloride to 3 parts magnesium sulfate (epsom salt ) would better approximate the natural sea water proportions of chloride and sulfate. The bionic is a calcium chloride supplement so th3 5;3 ratio accounts for the extra chloride you are adding already. If you were using calcium hydroxide or calcium carbonate the ratio would be 10 to 1. ,

For raising, many people use the 10:1 ratio. Once balanced then the 5:3 ratio is good for maintenance.

The 10:1 ratio of <b>ions</b> is about correct since you're using B-Ionic, and we assume that it's ionically balanced. I'd mix 7 3/4 cup magnesium chloride and 3/4 cup epsom salts into a gallon of water, and dose that.

That's about a 7:1 ratio by weight.
