Im planning on purchase a large bag of MAGFLAKE for Mg suppliment. Do i need to mix it with anything (beside water) before add into the aquarium? I think this is the cheapest way to suppliment Mg. Are there something i need to know about? My RC salt come with 1290ppm, i want to keep it at 1350-1400ppm. How pure is this stuff?

Thanks

Steve

This article explains how to mix magnesium supplements:

Using the Mag Flake by itself is likely fine, but I add in some epsom salt, to keep the ionic balance a touch better. From the article:

Using both Epsom salts and MAG flake, dissolve 7¼ cups MAG flake and ¾ cup Epsom salts in one gallon of water, and use that to supplement magnesium in amounts determined using this linked online calculator, with the entry "Randy's Recipes 1 and 2 Versions A and B," and ignore for this purpose what those designations mean. This recipe is preferred, but its advantage over recipe #2 is minimal in most cases.
