Maggie Muffler?

I am also curious about these mufflers. I am considering getting one for a new tank since I want it to be as quiet as possible.

Shaunt, how did it compare to a normal durso stand pipe?
 
The Maggie Mufflers are just as quiet as a normal durso or stockman standpipe and can handle around 1000gph apiece on 1.5" plumbing, possibly more.

They were created here in AZ and there is a lot of people with them on their tanks, I cant think of a single one that is unhappy.

Not really, they are intended for those who would rather buy than make or for some limited space applications where fitting a normal Durso or Stockman may be difficult.

After thinking on it a bit, the 1.5" Maggie's are a significant improvement for most over the standard Stockman, which could be more expensive to make due to the cost of 3" plumbing fittings to fabricate it.
 
I just got one and my 1.5 drain is super quiet. However I still need to find one that fits my 3/4 drain. Does anyone know if they sell a muffler for 3/4?
 
I'm going to order one today. Hopefully they are as good as everyone says... perfect for me cause I like to take the lazy way out sometimes.
 
I run them on two of my tanks and they are supper quiet and I will be running them on my new build. Cody AGE of Aquarium in Long Beach has them in stock as well.
 
Just added two to my 165 about two weeks ago. After that, and raising my standpipes up a bit to minimize the amount of drop from the tank level to the water level in the overflow, the noise from the standpipes is less than the occasional splash of the surface water from circulation pumps (the tank is in the master bedroom, and the sump is plumbed through the wall).

I'm sure they're probably not better than a well-made Durso, but they're miles ahead of the cr*p Durso-ish thing the tank manufacturer provided. They're also small, and plug-and play; for $15-ish each shipped, I've spent far more for far worse products over the years :-)
 
These are not nearly as quiet as a herbie or bean but they're not bad.

You can't make an adjustment as you can on a durso with the airline since they're plug and play. They're not bad but sometimes can be very noisy depending on the viscosity of the water.
 
They can be used on the open channel line in a herbie, not with a bean as it ends with a 90 pointing down not with a required top opening for this fixture. With a herbie, you shouldn't have enough water flow through the open channel to justify the fixture.
 
I've had great luck with the 1.5" model in the past. Just got the 1" Maggie Mini and it was very quiet at first with no issues but now it is doing the flushing thing randomly every 10 or 15 minutes. Any ideas?
 
Water is slowly building up then flushing, cycles every few minutes, slow down flow a bit or remove any sharp angles in the drain until the flushing stops.
 
I have the flushing every few seconds as well. The tank is in my finished basement so I don't mind. I have 2 minis on my 180g.
