Magnesium quant method?

Calling all reef chemists! Does anyone know of a simple titration for measuring magnesium? I work in a biochemistry lab and have access to many reagents. Wondering if I can skimp on test kits and make my own at work. Is there a Mg specific chelator I could use with a dye and back titration, similar to the classic Mg+Ca quant with EDTA and Et black?

Im also thinking about doing a full elemental analysis with our TXRF in the future...ill keep you posted if interested. :spin1:

I don't know much about the specifics of magnesium test kits, so I can't help. Maybe someone else can add some comments. There's a book of standard testing methods that might be relevant, if I can find some details.

Thanks. Anyone else have any idea? I know there are some inorganic chemists on here who can share knowledge with a fellow scientist!
