Magnet mount for Seios

I want to use magnets to hold my Seio 620s..those suction cups just dont cut it...one slipped the other night and it was blowing my clam all night..anyways

what do you guys suggest..buying some magfloats and super glue to bracket? I am looking for a quality cost efficient method to ditch these suction cups..thanks guys

The magnets will work just fine either glued or wire tied. I like using wire ties because you will not damage the bracket or the magnets if you ever change your mind and want to sell them.

If your tank is acrylic the wire ties may scratch the tank, so gluing maybe a better option.

what specifically kind of wire would you use to do this? don't want to get anything that would degrade..thanks for the help

I am talking about the nylon electrical wire ties also known as Cable Ties I use the black ones, but I have seen them in white. I have used them many times without any problems. The brand I use are made by Leviton. They sell them at HD and lowes. The 8" ones are rated a 50lbs and temp up to 185 degree

I saw somewhere where people used a blob of silicone on a suction cup to get it to stay. Just put a dab on and stick it where you want, yes underwater. I think it was Dave from over memphis way who owns that store. Says it works like a charm. Just a cheap thought you may try first because the mag float would nead to be strong enouph to hold and they are not real cheap either.

The only problem with using the silicone is once you place the power head in position you can not just move them as you can using the magnet holders. With the magnet holders all you need to do is move the magnet to reposition the powerhead with the silicone you have to scrape it loose clean it off and them re-apply. A cheap fix yes but doesn't lend itself to adjustments easily.

think I'll go the magnet route for maneuverability..btw you can go to petsmart.com and get a cheaper price on something like magnets ...print it out and then go to the store and get it matched in store...the difference can be big..

just bought a powerhead for a friend...$34 at the store...16.99 online..
nice savings...I will try to make them cheap..
