Magnifica Anenome!!!!!!!!

magnifica

the magnifica anenome is doing *perfect*... it has not moved from it's rock
although it did try to stretch a few times haha.....

It is STUCK on island! hahaha

It has, and is doing fine, under a fair bit of current....and high lighting.

I feed frozen cyclo to the tank which I am sure it loves along with frozen mysis that it gets too... I am sure it eats the reef roids also and the phyto plankton.....

Tonite...or tommorow night it will have a shrimp from the deli...it has not had one in 2 weeks so it is overdue.

You are lucky!

I got a magnifica from live aquaria awhile back, he marched all over the tank. Some said it needed less light to get acclimated, some said needed more light. In the end he didn't make it, extremely sad! I'm very happy for your good fortune, I love happy clowns in a big nem.

The magnifica, from what is being told to me and what I am witnessing, is nottttt an easy animal to care for... The majority of them are not shipping well and arriving DOA orrrr they are in very rough shape when they arrive.

My belief is this animal needs and loves ALOT of light...more then the average anenome.... and that is loves ALOT of current...again...more then most anenomes.....

it also needs pristine water....so a darn good skimmer and perfect water changes whereby the salinity level in tank remains constant.....

I put mine on a rock as mentioned far enough that it cannot sting anything
andddddd it cannot REACH another rock... Someone told me that it will stay put *because* of what I did....another person said..no it will still move to the highest point in the tank to be closer to the light....

The first person was right..it has never moved off of the rock...though I know it has a desire to get higher...it cannot and will not because it will not
cross the sandbed.....this anenome does not scoot across sand!

So...my recommendation is if you get another magnifica is to perhaps use
the info above to help you......

or...better yet...choose an easier anenome to keep alive such as standard long tentacle anenome....people around here have them splitting and are getting 5 anenomes for the price of one etc fairly commonly......

best of luck,
THANKS for your comments.

Mine was put in my sps tank on a rock island, lots of light, flow & great water. Think the poor shipper thing got him. Promised my self I would not ever do that again unless I could find a good heathy one in LFS. Any way corals have grown so much now there's not enough room in the tank any more.

sick item

sick item

your right...your animal could have already been doomed when you got it....

items are caught with cynanide of which the effects occur AFTER in our tanks...and are lethal in some cases....

or...just the fact those animals do NOT ship well is enought to stress it into
unsatisfactory level and unable to bounce back from....

you are bang on....so ...you may nnottttttttttt have been able to prevent the death of that anenome....very very good possibility.

sorry to hear of your loss anyways.....take care.

Sorry
I didn't mean to be a downer.
You seemed so happy with your new nem, it just reminded me of when I got mine.
I Am glad to see such a good out come.
