Maintaining certain SPS colors

Does any one have problems with certain colors of sps?
For instance, greens do awesome for me"¦ some of my sps even turn green when starting off as another color. But one color I really have a problem maintaining is intense blue sps. These either shift more green or shift reddish/brown. Coincidence? Or is anyone else having problems with certain colors? And if you have, have you been able to make any adjustments to your graph to correct the problem?

Hmmmm Not that i can think of. I don't have any blue acros. But I have Acans with blue in them and the colors like good
I bought 2 Purple Stylos frags recently I noticed when the lights get low they are shifting to more pinkish color. Which is fine by me.
Also got a brown Stylos thats shifting to green.
Are you talking about mid day lighting? Night time? Or they just never look as blue as you'd like?

Purple i seem to be ok with. Mostly. My purple cap looks good, my purple stylo looks good. Its the true blues I tend to have problems with. Any time of day.
I have a new teal colored frag that so far is holding its color. I have an ultimate blue stag that is still kinda blue but dull and dark. I have another acro that was blue or purple (can't remember) that has gone completely reddish brown. I have an aussie gemmifera sps that was a light blue that has gone reddish brown. I had a blue oregon tort that I tried several months back and it stn'd on me. And I have another sps mini colony that was pretty blue when i got it but has shifted a bit towards the green spectrum. Blue doesn't like my tank! haha

I'm not sure if this applies at all but I have been having troubles with all sps since the switch. It seemed my sps showed positive results at first but their longevity was poor. I don't really have any long term sps just frags but after killing way too many I think that it has been a intensity issue more then anything. I also backed my spectral change down as well. I don't have the uv to 12k settings throughout the day anymore I now have a uv to 22/24k ish spectrum over a 6 hr period.
Recently I purchased some very colorful SPS frags from a local and one is a "lime in the sky" look a like. Green with very intense blue tips and it is growing very well on the sand and I'm scared to move it up. The Red Planet I got from him is not holding it's color as well.

Again I believe mine was more of a intensity and long photoperiod issue more then anything. I also had matched the frag sellers PAR numbers and photoperiod as well. The other sps frags I got from him are holding their colors but not much growth as of yet.

Here's something for you to look at I've been following this for a couple weeks now.. Its LEDs in general But you might find something here

I don't fully buy the "it's LEDs" story. There are too many success stories, tanks of the month, and coral farms adopting the technology. I think it's a game changer in the hobby for sure and with all the adjustability it will be hard to pinpoint the best settings for your tank or your corals. In my case I tried to match the spectrum by eye that the frags are coming from. My local guy has 14k Phoenix SE's on electric ballasts with reefbrite LEDs supplements. The color is very good. I then matched the PAR he had with was WAY lower then I would have thought. Most of his corals were maxed at 250par for only 4 hrs.

Can you tell me what you have your LEDs set to get a 22 or 24k look?

Thanks

The colors are great but very blue and I notice that in another thread you said you wanted corals to glow but without the blue.

I've been running Radions since they were beta and have no problem growing sps compared to other lights. Right now its just one or two colors i'm struggling a little with and wondering if anyone has any tips. My red planet especially looks FANTASTIC. Bright green base with deep red polyps. Best grower in my tank. lol

I think your right about your intensity and i've read that even PAR can't be directly compared with other types of lights but I'm no scientist that for sure.

Not sure what you're referring to here? I'm totally for LEDs as THE lighting source of choice. Until somebody comes out with something better lol

Man I jumped the gun on my initial statement. I though the linked thread was a different one. Please disregard
