Just wanted to give an honest review of this product so other people can consider it for future use. It has a lot of upside and works extremely well for certain applications, but does not work fully as advertised. I will be upfront in telling you that I do not have any kind of a pest anemone problem, but I only intended to use this to destroy pest corals. Now if you have a past anemone problem, then buy this thing in a heartbeat because it works extremely well for that purpose.
I have two types of coral that I intended to destroy with the majano wand. The first is Xenia and the second is brown palythoas. I also found one random aiptasia that I wanted to vaporize.
I decided to buy the majano wand on a whim since I won a ton of money playing poker last week and figured... what the heck why not???
On anemones....it works like a charm. Melts them right before your eyes. Bye bye aiptasia in less then 5 seconds.
For killing palys, this thing is amazing. It melts right thru them and turns them into goo. Just stick the tip right into the polyp and move it around the exterior to destroy it with ease. If you need to kill back palys, zoos, or colony polyps...then this thing is awesome. A word of caution however if killing them....run a fresh bag of carbon to eliminate any possible release of palytoxin.
Now for Xenia on the other hand, this thing doesn't work worth a you know what. I practically left the tip of the wand directly on a small Xenia patch for a good 60 seconds.... And it did absolutely nothing. What I have found works the best to kill Xenia is any kind of Euphyllia. I have a spare frog spawn that I set on top of Xenia patches for 24 hours and after that they are completely melted down to the rock with no harm done to the frog spawn. If you need to kill Xenia, give that a shot.
Hope this is helpful.....I'd say the majano wand works "90% as advertised".
