Male false personifer experiences

I was able to find a 4.5" male false personifer that will be arriving the week after thanksgiving. He will be residing in the 125g QT I have setup. He will be the only fish in the tank. Anything special to take into account for? Plan on observation for the first week or two then treating with PP and CP. Peter I know you have one, any pointers? This is the first fish purchased for the 625g. Got the fish from Brian at Reefwise, if anyone was wondering.

I saw that fish! Nice grab dude. Did you see his little bandit while you were there?

Good luck! His fish are pretty solid...

Yes I saw the 2.5" on the site, not in person. Brian's shop is 4.5 hrs away from me one way, so I didn't make the trip... This time. I am also getting a 2-3" one to try and pair with the male, just found this out in the last hr. I asked him last night about a Juv or small to try and pair with the male, today he let me know he has 2-3" ones on the list so I'm also getting the small sent with the male. So if all goes well I will have a pair eventually... Or two false personifers in a 625g that don't really like each other!

I've had one for a couple of years now that I got from divers den. Mine was bigger when I bought it (~6") which may account for my experience differing from what I've heard. I've read that larger Chaetodontoplus angels can be somewhat difficult to acclimate and that they can be shy. I didn't notice that at all with my FP though it could due to where I got him.

Mine is bold and personable, he's definitely the boss of my tank. The only time I've ever seen him get nasty was with a smaller (~3.5") blueline angel that I added this summer. I had no idea he could swim so fast lol. That only lasted a few hours though and now the two of them feed side by side without issue.

He eats like a pig. Scarfs down literally everything I give him. I never had any issues getting him to eat but like I said before that may be because of DD.

Definitely one of my favorite fish from my favorite genus of angels. IMO a solid choice to start the tank. Good luck with yours, hopefully they pair up.

Thank you for the insight. The male has been with Reefwise for 3 weeks now and it will be closer to 4.5 weeks by the time I get him. The small one is a different story. Hopefully she comes in healthy, if not I know he will hold the fish until she is healthy.

Not much to add that hasn't already been said. I have a big thread on them somewhere in this forum. If they get ich, it's obvious, so you won't have to guess :)

I agree with Ted, mine is much like a navarchus. Doesn't bully, but doesn't really take crap from anyone. A shy fish, he usually hides when the camera comes out, so pics, at least decent ones, are few and far between.

Thanks Hunter! I got a new iPhone and it's like I have never typed before. Changes everything I write especially anything derogatory! Starting to make me mad! The thread title makes it sound like I'm 3D printing one. Thanks for the response Peter, I look forward to receiving them.

You'll love 'em... I think they are a really underrated angel, but I guess you already knew that! :D

How is the false personifer doing? You should have received it last week, right?

Do you recommend the fish at reefwise? They carry a lot of beautiful fish and I'm trying to find somewhere reputable within driving distance (within 3 hours) of the Indy area. I've been checking their site but it doesn't seem to be updated very often and I signed up for their newsletter but haven't received one yet.

They are delayed for another week. Haven't closed on my home yet so Brian was kind enough to hold them for another week for me. Was suppose to get them tomorrow but thankfully they are delayed. Not sure what's up with his Newsletter? He updates his site a few times a week. I've heard great things about Reefwise and Brian has been more than helpful to me. Also you can ask him to get things for you. He has a really solid supplier of Australian fish. Ask me again a week from tomorrow about the false personifers and I will let you know my take

If your luck is anything like mine, it will be the latter. I'm sure they'll work it out though. He also has a scribble that's perfect size, they actually brought her to the aquatic experience. Very shy, understandably, but great looking fish.

Good luck, and post pics!
