how can you tell which one is the male.female when both are of the same size?
they are mature, been on tank for 2 years.

Which one wiggles, stands on its head, or otherwise behaves "submissively" towards the other? The one that does that will be the male.

do you have a anemone for them? if you put them in with out a anemone you run a chance of having them the same sex.

This is not true. If they are the same size, neither one is probably female. One will turn female and grow eventually.

they are always together, one would follow the other.
i think they are already matured, they are like 3inches.
i bought them from a guy who was breaking down his tank, he said he had them for 3 years. they were hosting a frogspawn.

will a pic help?

A pic may help. What kind of clowns are they?

Black & white occie aka false percula and nemo is also false percula... If they have been together that long I don't see why one isn't a female even if they are about the same size... Just look to see who shakes rattle and roll and that will mostly be the male...

Nice pair

If they are both 3" long ocellaris they are likely both females. Ocellaris are not always as aggressive as other clowns. I think you have a couple who are girlfriends.
