The males have long "spike" on the dorsal fin that reaches back to the tail. The females do not have this. They do a spawning dance in the water column in around sunset. I've cut out the "white" lights a couple of hours before the actinics in order to simulate this. They release pelagic eggs which need to be collected and removed from the display tank. The eggs need to be hatched out in kriesel type set up for constant circulation, this is also apparently needed for the initial larval stages as well.
