I am building a separate tank for a 450gal mixed reef that is going to house mangroves, macro algae, NPS, LPS and other corals. The build thread is in the large tank forums. My question is mostly going to revolve around the mangroves air circulation requirements since the tank is 180gal(30x30x48) with only about half the system full of water. I have never kept mangroves in an environment that necessitated the use for additional circulation around the tree. In terrariums air circulation is vital, and Ive been referring to the 180gal as a saltwater paludarium because it will have the mangroves enclosed in the tank. How much air circulation is necessary for the mangroves to thrive? Has anybody fully enclosed mangroves inside an aquarium before? If anybody has tried something similar, advice would be helpful.
