Mangrove in DT?

While snorkeling a while back I found a mangrove seed and stuck in one of my fuges.
It is growing pretty well. It can grow another 24" or so before it reaches my light. My concern is the root system. When it comes time to remove it will the root system be difficult to remove?
Will it get under my rock? Has anyone done this before?

I had one in a fuge before. The roots will get quite large and yes, they will entangle themselves in the rocks. Most of a mangrove plant is it's root system.

 Dude!!!!

That is pretty much what I thought, but I think I am going to let it grow.
I do have the luxury of being able to see my bottom glass, so I can monitor how large the root system is getting. When it looks like it is going to be a problem I will yank it then and find a tidal pool to transplant it in.
Thanks for the reply Jesse.

I've read the roots can do some pretty major damage to the seams in your tank if you're not careful. I've never kept them before, so not first hand experience.

I have mine planted in an 8" cube with refugium mud. Buried it under some rock. If you keep it contained, you don't have to worry about the roots.

I started them from propagules 5 years ago but my lighting was WAY underpowered for them. As soon as I put the tank and them in front of the window they took off. That pic is about 6 months old too. They're bigger now.
