mantis eating silicone?

a friend of mine just told me he thinks he might remember reading about a mantis eating the silicone? can this happen? if so does it happen regularly?

I have never seen a stomatopod eat silicone, but I have seen them use their 3-5th maxillipeds to try to remove a bead in an attempt to dig.
