I just got back from picking up a new mantis at the LFS. I have had my eye on him for a while and finally couldn't live with out him. As we were packaging him to go home I noticed he has quite the growth of algae on his back. Its hair like, reminds me more of Cheatomorpha than hair really. Its coming from most of the segment joints along his back. I am pretty sure it was because he was in a critter keeper in a reef tank and couldn't get totally under rock.
What to do..... He is VERY agressive and interactive, and other wise seems to be in good health. My game plan is to keep him in a darker part of the sump at least through one molt if not longer. Feeding heavily to try and coax a molt quicker.
Any other suggestions>
will post pictuers later after the acclimation.
