What a really cool little guy! IS is acceptable to call a mantis "WAY cute"? I'd take it in a blink if Dr. Roy doesn't want to keep it!!!!
I lost my mantis after a molt around a year ago & still miss him. He was a gorgeous Gonodactylus sp....green with some blue and red & gold swimmerettes. He knew me - would hide from others & never even struck at the feeding chopsticks.
If anyone knows of a Gonodactylus sp., Odontodactylus sp. or a REALLY cute Haptosquilla sp. like this one that is needing a home, I have a 25g refugium with a 6" sandbed & tons of worms & pods that he/she would be really happy in!

actually is a she, according to Dr. Roy .and it looks like is an unknown specie of Haptosquilla...the reason i send her to Dr. Roy was exactly that...to tell you the truth i kind of miss the little bug...

Just wondering what the results were. Is it a new species or what?

 

[Gonodactylus]

The Haptosquilla is very close to one that is fairly common in Indonesia. However, the color morph is different from any that we have seen for this species. There is another species currently being described from Tonga and Fiji. It may be that species, but morphologically it is a bit different. Eventually, it will probably take molecular analysis to determine this. Fortunately, we can sometimes do this without sacrificing the animal. When I get some photographs, I will post them.

Very neat stuff, it just makes me think that without the internet and forums like this, that may have never been seen.
