Mantis if you want it

I'm sure we have about few more to catch. (I am Gieser's wife, BTW) I'm not sure they are all wennera, but I guess it is likely. We will let you know. I found a fish hitcher today! He is a cute little tiger goby.:)

what is the quality of the rock you got from there I had looked at that particular site when I first set up my tank, but ended up going with a local person.

AMAZING!! I had bought some a while back when we had a 120. I was SOOOO nervous as it was site-un-seen. I was in shock when we got it!! I personally will never buy rock locally, because it usually not really cured and certainly does not have the growth. I will post some more pics of it.

The most important thing about Richard's rock is that he picks it up out of the ocean, puts it into a pale of the water from the ocean, the bags the rock with the water. NOW THAT IS LIVE ROCK! He does the sand the same way. His cost is very good, as well. For the rock you get, you cannot find anything better. You may like or dislike or argue that the rock can have a lot of critters on it, but there is no doubt about the look and the growth of his rock. One of the best parts is that he makes it easy to do business with him. People like that are HARD to find, but I have found that Paul at Oceans Motions , James at Envision Acrylics , Albert at Aqua Cave , Jeff at Premium Aquatics are web friendly and so easy to do business with because it is VERY important to them that you are taken care of.

As we have been observing our Tampa Bay Salstwater live rock, we have noticed about 4 Mantis, of which we have caught 1. We then realized we had a Tiger Goby!!! HOLY COW, we never heard of a fish hitchhiker. There I was observing the little fellow when I told my wife,"Hey, this little guy is really cool", to which she said, "How can you see him from way over there?" I told her because he was on the rock I was looking at. She said, "THAT MEANS WE HAVE TWO!!!" Shortly thereafter, they got in the same rock together and we believe they might be a mated pair!

Here is a picture of one...hopefully we can get a picture of them together.

That is the weird thing, they seem to be "together? with the mantis. The live in the same holes, and sit on the rock at the same time next to each other! CRAZY!!!

from florida rock the stomatopod '' mantis shrimp '' is most commonly a smasher Neogonodactylus wennerae or possibly Neogonodactylus bredini , they will not bother the fish if they are fed on a regular basis, but multiple stamatopods will kill eachother unless they are male and female of specific spec with enough territory for them both . here is a link that will help id and care for these animals

This morning we found and caught Mantis #2 with a NET of all things. This guy was just swimming around the tank. We have never seen that before!!! If you are interested in coming to get him, today is a good day to pick him up.
