I'm probably just being the worried mom but my mantis has not shown himself since i put him in the tank(5 gallon nano) a week ago nor has he eaten anything(as far as i know). There's a snail and hermit crab roaming about but he hasn't caught them yet and i've offered planlton and krill without any sucsess. Any suggestions? I read the other day that waving food in front of the entrance of the lair might encourage the mantis to come out.Problem is i'm not entirely sure where he's hanging out. Any suggestions would be appreciated...thanx.

I offer my mantis a piece of shrimp once a week and I have a pair of tongs I hold the shrimp on and wave it around the tank, in a couple minutes the mantis comes out and takes the food back to his home. It could be possible that your mantis is going through a molt and in this time you will not see or hear from your mantis for a while and when you do you might have a color change and think you have a different mantis.
