mantis shrimp

Need help on catching a mantis tried a store bought mantis trap and baited it with a piece of shrimp, left it in the tank for 48 hrs. Did this several times still no luck. Can't seem to grab him with my grabbers when spoted. Is there maybe any other kind of baits that could be used that would not affect my tank chemistry causing harm to my live stock and corals. Or possible another way of trapping him.

What are you baiting with? It seems the most success to be had is with frozen squid, silverside, or shrimp. that and patience.

oh and please don't kill it. Give him away to someone who wants it (yes we do exist)

haha i think mantis shrimp traps are a joke mostle because the ones i have seen have been smaller then my Peacock lol you will more then likely have better luck with a bottle trap

I would be happy to take it as long as it's a smaller species.
