One more question. Do they tend to come out at night or during the day? I've only seen mine once and I think he is small. I've been trying for find him again with no luck.
They come out mostly at night - Use a flash light with red celaphanne paper over it works for me. Used shrimp and fish for consumption and I add garlic as bait. Once he is in pull the string up.
Actually most mantis are more active in the "daylight" (according to most everything I've read and experienced first hand)...
Occassionally Tim (a G. smithii) will venture out after dark, but it's a very infrequent occurance (and I think he does it only to startle me).
Don't feed for a day or two, then put thawed piece of shrimp and/or a couple shrimp pellets in the trap/bottle maybe a nassarius snail as well for movement.
Thanks densityMan, I'll give that a try and post my results. I've got to find him again first. I have a 20g laying around that I may set up for him or sell him.
