March 1st MARS Swap Rare Consideration

One head of dendro is good enough for me. The blasto is very pretty and I am willing to admit it in 3 head frags.

Hey Paul, Pete, Mike would AOG's still come across as rares? The original frag came from New Alameda, so pretty sure they are true AOG's.

ok....how bout this yuma? http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee48/treesmoker_photos/10169.jpg
Pic was taken with flash....which kinda washes out the pruple/blue base.

and these zoa?http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee48/treesmoker_photos/6003.jpg

While being pretty the yuma is not colorful enough to make it and the zoo's are pretty but not quite extraordinary or rare. Pete and Mike can overule me however if they disagree.

The AOG's are in. Let's say about 4 polyps :)

cool, you were right about the red and green rock of zoas though, it broke into 12 decent sized frags, rangeing from a good 8 or 10 polyps, to 15+ polyps. It was kinda branchy type rock, so broke wierd.

So that and two frags of AOG's has me in two bonus rounds, going to try for another 10 or more frags to cover all three bonus rounds, plus a few extra.
Of course I guess any extra could go to one of my local reef club members to qualify them for a bonus round too...

Based on the pictures, I agree that the yuma doesn't rise to extraordinary status. I like the zoas, so with at least 6 I think they'd work, so that leaves Mike to chime in on the zoas, sorry Mike.

I like pretty zoas - alot. These zoas, although very nice, are somewhat common (for what its worth, I think they they go by the name of "bam bam orange" from zoaid.com). I also do not feel they are up there on par with something like AoGs, PPEs, etc. I will have to side with Paul on this and say they just do not make the bar as extraordinary.

The pink and green is an Aussie Blasto Mer. are either of these considered rare and if so how many heads are needed? These are for friends I have mine picked and I can not wait to go!

I will say the dendro is in. The merletti, although very nice, does not meet my idea of extraordinary - just see a lot of this particular type out there. So Pete will cast the final vote on this. Go Pete!

For all corals decided as not being extraordinary, please do not lose heart - these are magnificent pieces, so bring them anyhow! We want a good showing of all ranges of eye candy out there, so good quality corals is a great thing for everybody. I will be bringing some nifty pieces myself that I would not consider rare or extraordinary, but i think you will find them very pretty. ;)

While very nice, I agree that the merlettis are not extraordinary. Heck I have them and love them, but they are relatively fast growers and have good availability.

Never got an answer? when you get a chance

Will any of these qualify for rares? Also North Coast Reefers has quite a few members coming. Should I send a member list to someone?

I got some consultation from a higher power of SPS and the verdict is: The turaki, Surf and Turf, and the rose Mili are in. The others are pretty but no dice. Please make sure all frags are at least an inch.

Do we need to pre-qualify for rares/bonus picks?

I have some AoGs, hundred plus or so, and pretty sure they are "true" ones since I did get them from Norman himself a few years ago or so :D
Also not 100% sure I'm going to make it, hence why I'm asking if I need to pre-qualify, if anything I may send some frags with fellow BAR members.
