Greetings, fellow reefers! It's time once again for us to conduct official business and break bread together (i.e. slices of pizza). Dudemeister has graciously offered up his place for our venue (thanks!!).

When: Sunday, March 9, 2014
Time: 1-4PM
Where: Westport (I'll send the address via PM if you reply in this thread)

Definitely understand that this is just a day after FFM. Seems like that will be great discussion fodder for the group. We also wanted to get this event out of the way before March Madness and on an agreeable date for our host. ;)

Besides the regularly delicious Italian pies, we'll also have a special treat in store - 4 frags to give away as door prizes. Yours truly and our esteemed President, RTMA, took a trip to The Coral Reef in Stratford to secure a collection of sweet frags. Details and photo below.

Better still, TCR has graciously allowed us to host these frags for the next month. Feel free to stop by and oggle them (and buy some stuff from TCR, of course!). They are:

Raptors Peace Favia
Pink & Red Acan
Blastomusa
ORA Montipora Spongodes

Here's what's in store at Dudemeister's place:

Mixed reef: 125 display, 50 gallon sump, Custom LED's, APEX, skimmer, GFO reactor, ATS.
45 gallon brackish tank with some cichlids and a 4eyed fish.
20 gallon tank species tank with a peacock mantis
Nano reef species tank with another mantis (a spearer!)

Very much looking forward to it!!

PS - I almost forgot a most important detail. We'll also be holding a confirmation vote for our officers.

President: Joe D'Allacco (RTMA)
Vice President: Mike Masone (thefuz)
Treasurer: RJ Fontilla (rjinct)
Officer: Steve Colley (scolley)
Officer: Chris Littrell (clittrell)
Officer: Skip Brushett (skip0211)

Were not planning on a raffle, since we had one so recently. And are giving away store-bought frags as door prizes. But if enough people chime in, anything's possible. ;)

We aren't members, but are considering going as long as no other plans conflict. hopefully will know shortly. Can we join at the meeting?

EVERYONE with a reef tank, or an interest in starting one is welcome! The only caveat is... that interest has to be non-commercial, i.e. - no vendors. Just hobbyists. To that end, we often have people that bring spouses and/or kids. That's welcome too.

We have meetings in people's homes because we operate on a shoestring budget. But it keeps things "homey", and we usually get to see someone's tank. Mike (the host this meeting) has a somewhat new reef tank, and is shaping up nicely. It's an upgrade from a smaller tank, so there's new rock is still "growing in". But IMO it's a wonderful example of a big tank in a natural part of the reef tank life cycle. GREAT set up in his home. Hopefully you'll see.

Always great to meet new people. Love to have you! :)

So... looks like we've got ~9 confirmed here plus a few stragglers that I know should be showing up (*hint* *hint* RTMA and RJinct!).

Anyone else? I'd like to get a good count for grub!

I really don't think I'm going to be able to make it this time. I'm going to TRY!

I have had a friend in town for the past few days and it's been insanely hectic so honestly...I have a ton of work to finish on Sunday. I'd skip FFM and go to the ARK meeting but I freaking bought a couple of pumps from one of the vendors so I gotta go get 'em. Dangit. I really wish I hadn't bought those pumps now. I could skip FFM if I had! hah hah. Oh well.

Good afternoon, folks. Just a reminder that our annual meeting is coming up this Sunday in Westport.

We'll have plenty of pizza (thin crust from Riko's in Norwalk), snacks, and beverages on hand so fear not going hungry if you plan on stopping by.

Plus, you'll have a great chance to nab one of these beauties from The Coral Reef in Stratford!!
