March Meeting - Annual Meeting

It was a good time! And hosting was fun. It's always great to see old friends, and make new ones!

Hopefully the business was not too painful. What? Maybe 10-15 minutes out of three hours. Not too bad IMO. And we got new officers out of it, and much needed tweaks to the By-Laws.

As always the frag raffle was fun. Especially since I wound up with that awesome Mummy Eye chalice. And for those of you that were there... you are my witnesses! My ticket was drawn first, by an impartial party (LOL), and I gave it up. But when my other ticket got drawn... well, I figured that was just fate! ;)

It was a good crowd.

And there were cut-ups as always...

A little (very little) frag cutting...

Some inspection of Frag Raffle winnings.

As always we were kid friendly. Munchies and things to sip go a long way with that...

I didn't take these pics. But my wild Tefe Green discus wound up in a few. So I guess I gotta throw one in. With a reef that's only 33g, with a 180g full of plants and discus, the reef just does not get enough respect. ;)

Thanks for coming folks. It was a really good time!

Oh! Almost forgot. We did not have as MANY frags today as usual. But several were AWESOME - A special thanks to Skip, Joe and Collin for that!

Just wanted to say thanks for the hospitality and being welcomed by all. Steve, just a great job of hosting!!

I look forward to the next meeting. Oh yea, almost forgot.. You guys broke the rules already and excepting my $10 dues, so I'm a Full fledged member!! LOL..

Seriously, great meeting everyone today. As the new guy, I'm more than willing to host a meeting at my house in Monroe. Rest assured that my system isn't nearly as automated nor interesting as most of yours, but we do have good pizza in Monroe!!

Thanks again,

Skip

Good times. Steve, thanks for hosting and for the meteor shower frag. Great to meet some new folks and reconnect with some older acquaintances. Looking forward to seeing you all next time, Tyler

I couldn't resist snapping a few of those mesmerizing discus. As a former FW enthusiast, it speaks to my roots. My first tank at 9 years old was full of guppies, mollies, swordtails and the like but I always drooled when I saw those big beautiful angels and discus in the stores. Besides, there was never any room in front of your big little show reef to snap a photo!

Thanks for hosting Steve and to everyone else for joining in on the fun. Here's to another great year of reefing!

I think the next meeting is in May? Don't quote me though. A higher up will chime in around April to let us all know!

Collin - This past year we tried having meetings every other month, rather than monthly. It seems to have worked out well, but any/all feedback on that is most welcome.

As our new VP - or Lesser Poobah - is Thefuz. So it's his job to line up new meetings. He's new in that role - as you know. But I'm sure we'll be hearing from him soon.

And BTW - while I'm on the topic - it's a huge pita arranging all the meetings, and we owe Terahz (Georgi) a huge Thank You for doing it the formative initial years of the club.

Thanks Georgi! :)

Thanks, Steve.

Yup - I signed up for the big bad role of party planner. I'm working on a few interesting things (some that may not conform to the official meeting category but will be fun nonetheless). More details soon.

For now, I'm totally open to suggestions and looking for someone to host over the coming months. Step up if you've got a tank for us all to ogle or have an idea in mind. I'm all ears!

There is a new Reef Store in Stratford. "The Coral Reef" I went last night. It's nice. It's on Main ST. by the green. Great pizza across the street. Maybe another meeting location / outing.
