March NARC meeting

Hi y'all,

I am very happy to announce that NARC March meeting will be held at Decatur Petco on Saturday March 15th at 1:00 pm.
I understand that there will be some nice door prizes :)

As you may know very well by now, Decatur Petco has a nice salt water section. Although they carried mainly salt water fish in the past, they are adding live rocks and some corals in their offering. They have a very good variety of dry goods for salt water aquarium as well. It's a store worth checking out. Petco periodically has a nice sale as well. I bought my cute little Pico tank there last year on sale.

Petco does not have a separate room for us to congregate, but I don't think that's a problem unless beaslbob comes up with another big crazy DIY demo of his ;).

Speaking of a demo, does anyone have a suggestion for things to talk about or do as a group? We can discuss something about a common problem or particular issue that some of us is experiencing. Newbie questions are welcome here. Please speak up if any of you beginners want to find out what other people are doing to manage/maintain their tanks and livestock. The rest of us who have been keeping reef tank for more than a year can still learn from this type of discussion. It's fun to find out what others are doing with their tanks and their techniques.

Do any of you want to bring some refreshment? Petco does not mind if we did. They can provide a small table for that. Let me know if anyone want to bring some soft drinks and munchies so I can let Petco know ahead of times.

If beaslibob just comes in the first place you'll have a problem!

(Sorry Bob, but I couldn't miss that opportunity)

Ok, I said I was coming to the Feb. meeting but had some issues with my grandmother that didnt allow it, but I will definitely be there for this meeting; I live in Decatur. If you are not a PETCO PALS member you should sign up while you are there I get 25% OFF cupons for saltwater fish and marine salt about every two months. So if you were looking for that expensive fish they can order it for you and you can pick it up before it ever hits their tanks. Or you can pay for it and let them keep it for a week or two for you to make sure it eats and all and still get 25% OFF.

Beaslbob will bring two part solution ingredients if any of you are interested. You can let him know here if you are interested. He cannot write, but he can read

I might make the long trip, but it really depends on gas prices for me to be drive 3+ hours

You are always welcome up here, andyjd :)
But I understand that the high gas prices makes it not feasible to come all the way up here.

Hey guys I'm jason (new to the club forum) do yall ever come further south? How many of yall come from mobile area? Mob cty representen. I can't travel that far but i would love to know whats going on. Maybe some one can recap the meeting in the club forum? That would be real cool. There is a pretty good scene down in this area for salt water stuff. I bet B&B pet store would even let yall do a meeting there if yall wanted. They do this stuff for reptiles and all kinds of other pets all the time. They have a good reef selection and fish selection if you show up on time. They get busy on truck days. Any way keep reefen

woops...I did not realize that it was not today! If work don't get in the way I hope to be there next week!

Well Riner, I too thought the meeting was today. I got my wires crossed on the date.... go figure. We went to Petco in Decatur at 1:00 and the guy there told us it was next week....humm... Since I was that far out, we went to see John Newby at Coral Reef Aquatics. It's been a year since I was there. It was good to see them too. I Picked up a few things from John and then went back by Petco and bought a yellow tang. So I guess I am going to miss seeing everyone again.

You had mentioned refreshments. A bakery here in Cullman has the best doughnuts in the world so we will pick some up and bring to meeting. How many do you think will attend?

Well, let's take headcounts.

I will be there, but not Reilly this time. So far I see, Monica and Don, Gcamp13 and Karen, kartracertj. 6 firm yes's including mine.

Does this mean that we only have 7 people for this meeting?

Sounds like the chance of winning a door prize will be much better ;). Petco said that they are getting some goodies from their distributors for door prizes :)

I hope more people can come to our reef meeting - it's just an informal get together you know.

GCamp is bringing some doughnuts. Monica said that she would bring some goodies. I suppose that I can bring some soft drinks and cups. We really like to know if you are planning on coming so we can bring enough of the stuff to go around.

GCamp - I suppose that you are interested in some frags, right? I have some pink xenia, Kenya tree, a tiny pink toadstool leather or two, which are free to good home. I may be able to dig up some mushrooms, too.

Monica and JoeTSI - I will try to take some pictures of zoa frags tonight and post them for you.

I hope to do the trading outside of Petco if possible since I really don't want to appear to our generous host that we are cutting into their business. We can take the frag swap party outside before or after the meeting if the weather is good :)
