Aqua Illumination classic rail mount...they busted the packing tube.

What hardware do I need to mount this thing?

Anyone have puctures?

The rails and end caps etc are intact but the screws and washers are missing.

Just eye balling it, it looks like I just need 2 screws and a washer for each light and they just slide in..

All I need are the size bolts (and thread pattern or a pic) and I should be able to solve this is 5 min in the hardware aisle of home depot.

Hi Allentown,

We are sorry to hear that the package arrived damaged. If you are referring to the screws that secure the light fixtures to the rail, they are 15/32 thread screws. 2" should do the trick if you have a Hydra 26 or 52. If you have an older Hydra with a thicker heat sink, you may want longer 2 1/2" screws. No washers are used. The heads of the screws simply slides into the rail. AI does not include the screws with the rail kit. The screws should have been included with your light fixtures. Here is a picture of the lights installed:

The Kessil uses an M5 screw for mounting.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Thank you.

It looks like all I need are the screws for the legs, end caps.

I called Marine Depot today and they said they would have AI send them In the mean time in case I don't get to hardware store in next few days.

Marine depot got back in touch with me and put me in direct contact with AI.

Solved.

I suspect UPS...I have had 3 packages in one week that were all opened.

An Apex system, a Tunze ATO and this...

***??

I have also had issues with getting damaged packages. I received one a while back where someone used a box cutter to open the box and cut the bag of salt open in the process. No missing parts, but it always looks like UPS used my package for a pinata at a beer pong party before they dropped it off.

Not all these packages were from marine depot.

Interestingly enough I received a protein skimmer from marine depot that was also obviously a previously opened and assembled and then sent back product.

Not sure what happened there but marine depot made it right so I think this is more about the woes of mail order and not directed towards marine depot.

Based on the service I got these past two weeks on two seperate issues, I'll keep doing business with them.

They will continue to get my business as well. They have things that BRS doesn't. You can't really help what third parties do to things.

Thank you for shopping with us!

Thank you very much for your kind words! We feel awful when these sorts of situations arise, but also feel we can turn even the most unfortunate of circumstances into a positive outcome if given the opportunity. We approach all problems with optimism and hope to delight you with outstanding service every time you shop or contact us.

If there are any brands/products you think we should carry but aren't yet, by all means let us know! We'll definitely look into it.

This has certainly been an adventure.

I ended up with $20 off a tunze nano ato that looked like it had been a pinata also (I offered amazon an open box price and they took it).

I ordered an mp40qd that I couldn't get the controller working right out of the box and was extremely embarrassed that what I had done was connect the 1.6 power brick from the vortech back up battery to the 1.8 pump....that was an easy fix.

The rail kit was replaced by AI/Ecotech, no questions asked. Now mind you, as far as I knew...all I needed was the screws. I felt bad and was about to offer to return the extra rails when I was mounting the legs and discovered the ends of the original rails we're bent and the legs couldn't go on one side. So...I kept the new rails to obviously.

The skimmer above was a cones Co3. It was clearly open box, marine depot gave me a steep discount. They went on sale a few days later (always a buzz kill) but my open box discount was still much better.

I ordered a gyre from a different vendor and 2 days later they went on sale for $30.00 off. I called them about price matching but that doesn't work so well if your using amazon. You basically have to rerun the item and re-buy it although the vendor (who I won't name since this is MD section) was super cool about it and said they could do it in a way that I just kept my gyre, and only submitted a return and repurchase on paper....sounded like the kind of thing that would have me on the phone 3 days later trying to explain to a different rep why I was either missing a gyre I'd already paid for..or why I didn't need two. I decided to eat the $30.00.

At last...I ended up cutting my canopy and mounting my 3 hydra on top....see picture.

Now I am somewhat regretting spending $79.00 on the new AI controller when I'm surely going to end up with the apex control module.

Lastly I bought an 18 inch rail for the hydra back when I thought I was only going with 2 that's still sitting in the box. Marine depot gave me an RMA number to take it back and I've been so busy I haven't made it to the post office......the RMA might be expired by now for all I know. I am also questioning my decision to complicate matters with hydra 52s and vortech pumps when I could have controlled both with my apex and a single module instead of 2 modules. I genuinely like some of the features of the hydra better however (more leds, they rum cool, fans on top, rail mounts, spread out over 4 pucks instead of 2 etc.)

So........is this typical for a 225g build? I'm sure some of you have had it worse but have certainly felt over whelmed.

My most frustrating thing : Cord management. I see pictures of amazing control panels and oragami style cabling. Second most frustrating thing: Unsightly reactor hoses.....i did not want to hard plumb my reactors but...yea, it's ugly.

My cables and hoses look like a 3rd graders drawing of the snake pit from Indiana Jones.

Build thread probably going up next week.

Wow, that's interesting, I also just got a skimmer from MD that also appears like it was used and returned. They made me jump through hoops to get it returned.
