marine magic dosing pump review

Yeah, I have the pushed on all the way. I don't think I can push them on farther. I only had problems with the suction side when I was testing it, but now that I have it pumping up like three feet to my biocube I am also getting leaks on the pushing side.

It is kind of annoying because I spent a lot of time figuring out the rate at which each pump was pumping at and now I know those rates are off because I am either getting air in line or losing solution when it leaks.

Hi perry cheng,
I just received your triple dosing pump in the mail the other day (Steven Miller(smil7582)), and I have a few questions. The pump arrived in great condition and I tested all three pumps manually with RO/DI water. I think it is going to work great.
Questions:
1. Can you change the temperature to degrees Fahrenheit?
2. Is the temperature probe saltwater resistant?
3. I also looked and it seems like I'll have to put everything in Military Time,is that correct?
4. I did notice that pump A was running faster than pump B and C and at first I thought something was wrong, but then I saw your videos on youtube and noticed there a 4 different speeds. How do you toggle between the different speeds?
5. Can you run the system vertically, say mount on a wall with the screen facing out towards you?
6. If I need to replace a pump later on, is it best to just email you?
You should definitely put some more videos or tutorials on youtube a lot of people are interested in ways of dosing. But so far so good, and a good, quality
working product, I'm reporting back to the other members on the Reef Central forums about the system too becuase they have similar questions.
Thank you!
Steve Miller

Dear Steve,
Thanks for your questions. Please see reply below.
1. While we develop, we just make it is Celcicus. Currently cannot show Fahrenheit. Might consider to do it in future production run.
2. Yes. It is stainless steel
3. The time clock is 24-hours setting. I think this is what you called Military Time.
4. The pump rate from A, B and C would have some tolreance, so they are not exactly the same even in the same speed. But in a repeated
run, they would have a very same amount of dosing. So, for pump A run faster, it might need less time set while pump B and C need more time. Also, the motor and tube is consumable, the rate of dosing might be faster while the tube getting flatten or the roller inside become bad. That need to do some adjustment of time set to keep your desired
dosing amount. It happens in most of the dosing pump in the market and some of the dosing pump would have calibration function. We believe to use second control the flow is the most accurate and easy way to control the amount.
5. This is not recommended to mount vertically. But we actually did not test this before, we also need to study on this.
6. Yes. We have all replacement part of this unit.

At the end, thank you very much for your questions. It gives us more ideas how we could improve our products in future and we hope to do some upgrade very soon.

Perry

aquaenthusiast, which end goes to the 2parts containers? the one has a check valve or another?

The motors move clockwise, so you want the tube on the left side to go to the 2 part containers. I put a check valve on the left side tubes just in case the liquid of the two part was to siphon, but these are peristaltic pumps so they shouldn't siphon, becuase of the 3 rollers inside the motor head.

Well it wasn't easy, but I ditched the hose connectors it came with and picked up three regular air line couplers. I used the three check valves provided and the three new airline couplers instead. Even though the tubing on the motors is smaller, with a little effort and frustration you can get them to expand over a regular size airline coupler. Now I have no leaks and am happy with the unit... for now. As long as it stays accurate and doesn't leak, I think it was a steal!

I am thinking of buying the triple version of this today.... I don't have a shelf in my stand to sit the controller on though. Can it be hung vertically against a wall? Industrial strength velcro would hold the weight, but I am concerned that the heads will not have space to turn.

Advice appreciated. Thanks.

The vendor states this configuration has not been tested. Take a look at Aquaenthusiast's post.

Not tested? Hmm..... what to do.

I read Aquaenthusiast's post above about the pumps running left to right; didn't shed any light on if it the controller can be mounted vertically. Or have I missed something?

Thanks for the reply though... I'm very close to pulling the trigger on this and ordering.

read the post above that one

Cheers Shifty. I am not sure how I missed that. OK, I am going to google around today, and perhaps order this evening. Thanks again.

Anyone having the Alk line crust up at the end of the air tube?
And if possible can you guys post some pics of you system thanks

SHAKEEL my alk line is a little crusty and it drains to the point where it comes over the tank. The Ca and Mg lines stay full right up til the end. I can't figure this one out.

can you tell me a little more about that sump please?

Here is how I plan to have it setup, I still have not programmed it or anything, but wanted to provide pictures for those who where interested.

aquaenthusiast , Thanks. I am just down the road from you. If you want to sell it, you have a buyer waiting ;)

netfishlight, yeah I have a sump - at the moment it's a rubbermaid tub. I had to remove the middle shelf of the stand to accommodate the skimmer. Not sure how I am going to mount the doser. It should arrive within the week. First attempt will be mounted vertically inside the stand on a side wall. I'll keep you posted.

I didn't drill solana tank, the back chamber is full of the equipment now. not sure how high the pump can push up. the outlets will be submerged into the water to dose into the high flow area.

I have my triple doser (new digital) one sitting on my bar top (temporaraly) which is about 4+' off the floor drawing from buckets on floor with 6' of tubing to and 6' of tubing from doser with no problems at all. Once I permanately mount the doser, I will shorten the draw/feed lines. Only thing is that it takes a bit of time to 'prime' the lines. I am using 2 pumps alternating ever hour (and every half hour during middle/end of 'lights off' photo period) to dose limewater.
