Is regular caulking ok for fish or is there something special I need to buy? And can I get that from home depot or something?

I used this silicone in my sump. Just give it time to dry, I waited about 2 days just to be safe.

And believe it or not I found it cheaper at a local petco/petsmart, can't remember which now, for about $0.50 cheaper.

I use GE silicone 1 or 2 just make sure its clear not colored and for "windows and doors", "not kitchen and bath", and it does not say anything about mold resistant. Silicone 2 takes a much longer time to cure before its safe to add water though so better to stick to 1.

GE1 windows and doors is what many of us have used over the years, any HD will have it.

^^^That will work just for for baffles^^^

There are better choices if you need real structural integrity, but baffles will have little or no stress on them so it works great. GE 1 W & D is holding many in for me and had for 25+ years in a few cases.

Uh, I was recommended the GE product for building a small aquarium (the frameless 15 ref'd in my sig) - am I going to have a problem with a tank 12" wide and 8" high, eurobraced??? I'll rebuild it if I have to but I'd really rather not.

Don't use any with mildacides and be sure it's fully cured before putting it in the water.
