Marineland Marine series tanks

Marineland has a new series of deep tanks all 36" deep and 36x36 150gal, up to 72x36 or 90x36 300 gal. Has anyone seen one? I spoke to the perfecto rep( manufacturer) who said the tanks outsold their estimates and are very popular. The shops around DC and Baltimore know nothing about them and the only way to see one is to order one and buy it. Given their depth it might be the best option now.

One of my local shops has the big 300 gallon version. They are really nice. Great dimensions. Also, I spoke with the owner of the LFS, and he told me they will put the overflows anywehere in the tank you want them. so, they don't have to be those corner overflows, they can be on the back, or a center column ovreflow, etc. they have a website (that doesn't work a lot of the time ) www.midwestreefs.com. or you could call them toll free at 1-888-452-5254
ask for Steve or Chris.

great guys to work with and can answer all you questions. Hope this helped.

Superpets in Annandale, VA (off I395) has both the 3' and 4' version of the tank in the store. I was in there last friday.

the 36 inch square would be interesting and Elos like. Rarely see a cube that size. But if I am considering a long term 4 year reef tank project which size is the sweet spot? My 9th grade son and I planned this project while he goes thru high school.

My local LFS in Kernersville NC has a 36x36x27 with Starfire front glass and it looks awesome - I'm very interested. The only issue I have is that the stand is not high enough. The LFS has the stand on a 6" high plinth. Without it you have to duck down to see the tank properly if you are standing up. I would like to make my own stand (I have a wood shop) but it would void the warranty.

Does any one know what the suggested prices are?

The LFS store quoted around $2000 for the tank with Starfire front glass, stand and canopy.

Tank is awesome, but would not buy the stand/canopy. It is incredibly short - you have to bend way over to see into the tank.

I agree. I will probably build my own as I have a basement woodworking shop. They will not guarantee the tank unless you buy their stand (much like other manufacturers). I can understand their position but most of us here know how to build stands. A stand made from 2x4s and 2x6s is much stronger than their plywood boxes.

will they drill these for CL? and do you have to order through a LFS or their website?

I called Marineland and you can specify whatever you want for bulkheads etc. You have to special order through the LFS. Takes about two weeks. Not sure if they'll drop ship or you have to collect from LFS
