So I had a rocking frag tank with SPS polyps out all day and great color. I have the perfect sump for the MarinePure 2" cubes so I figured i would give them a try, so I put in 1/2 cubic foot. Within 2 hours of introducing the marine pure my sps polyps were gone and the colors began to fade. I figured no biggie and I would give it a day or two. After day 2 SPS had no color and no polyp extension. I removed the MarinePure did a 20% water change. This did not seem to help. After day 4 things were looking terrible so I did a 50% water change. No improvement. Here we are a little over a week after introducing MP and i am starting to lose SPS. I am 95% certain that all of this is due to the MP. When I introduced the MP all polyps were out. I did not do a water change or change anything, just put in the MP. I am really regretting my decision.
Areas I may have gone wrong. I did not rinse prior to introduction to my tank-- however, the tank was never cloudy. Also I put the MP in an incredibly high flow area. Even so it should not have done this to my SPS.
the real question is what to do now..... More water changes even though it looks like my SPS will die if shocked any more? or just try and let things settle and hope all of the toxin is gone?
