Mark's 150 gallon

Wow Mark! Really fantastic.
I just love your shots and corals!
I'm taking a screen shot or your regimen and keeping it handy as a reference.
I forget your system volume.. what %of the recommended dose are using for micro e?

That horrida on the top of the page gets better looking each time I have opened your thread. It's awesomeness is very subtle.

Missed these replies, sorry. I think it's supposed to be 1 drop per 25 gallons and my system volume is about 150 (150 gallon tank + 30 gallon sump).

Thanks. It's difficult to take a picture of, the colors are quire bright and very reflective so the color gets blown out in my pictures.

The clowns are between eggs so I took some top downs and still got attacked once. :lol2:

Cousin It is an odd one. Polyp extension has dramatically reduced but growth and color remains good. The center looks dead, yet on close inspection I think it's just bleached. Time to frag a piece and grow in lower light.

I've been dosing CaNO3 to try and hold Nitrates at 5. This has improved greens, purples, and some blues while the reds had dulled just a bit. need to run a full battery of tests to see if anything is off. KH holding at 6.7 with occasional drops to 6.5 at which point I dose a cap of each two part.

This one was a better blue until i attacked one side to try and reduce the snail infestation. The base is finally coming off the plug so hopefully it will take off soon.

My other pinkish milli down near the sandbed. Pretty dull under white light but a rockstar under blue with an across the room gold and yellow glow.

Looking great Mark! That FTS is awesome. That last top down shot of the pink coral is my favorite. That piece is so nice

Oh yeah, Mark!
Well oiled machine, again!
Love the fts.
What, no lokani shot??!? That's ok.. the exceptional pink lemonade shot made up for it. And the Red Robin is also looking schmick!

Cousin It (the pink milli) has no polyp extension day or night while every other acro in the tank, including a brown one stuck in the sand bed, is showing excellent extension. Time to start figuring this out, probably well past time.

First step is to frag a branch and let it heal on the frag rack near other acros that are doing well. Naturally I took pictures ... having problems is sometimes more fun than everything going ok. :fun5:

Frag is moving from 400 PAR to 125 PAR. I swear it gained more color as I man handled the poor thing onto a frag plug.

If it doesn't regain polyp extension I will dip and if that works I will dip the entire colony. I can't see any pests or any signs of pests, which has me baffled.

KH 6.5 (trying again to up this to 7 over the next week or so)
PO4 .04
Mg 1280, raising this up a bit

I have a couple corals that are doing the same thing.
Most of the body of the coral looks ok but a section will be all dark and dying.
I'm going to do the same as you. Fragg'em.

I have to say, Mark, with all that's going on with my tank and the dreaded aefw. You are my number one inspiration for the next few months. Seeing your tank come back to it's full glorious potential like the phoenix from the ashes has got me pushing for the same result!! Your tank is phenomenal and please keep posting those lovely pics!! :inlove:

Thanks Dom, hopefully things go as well for you.

I'm not totally happy with how things are going in here. Based on the polyp extension issue with Cousin It and what looks like recession on the Lokani I stopped dosing MicroE and started doing small serial water changes to reset things. I might suspect elevated copper, but I'm probably wrong. I've also raised the lights a bit to get PAR at or under 400.

You know I love to take diagnostic pics so I'll start with the ugly and end with the good.

The Lokani has hard edges now and it's only this spot, but the skin looks a little thin. It did take a fall which may have upset it.

The frag has held colors very well, maybe even improved.

Everything else doing fine, so nothing really to worry about.

I thought I had a good 10 days between spawns but here we go again, so I'm unable to do anything on the right side of the tank. Very tempted to do a third tank with just the clowns and softies. Very tempted.

Acros I'm still working on....

Some kind of shortcake type acro.

This one was white and pinkish but I've yet to see it at full health.

Do Chromis mate up? The smaller one sleeps in the valida, the larger over in the slimer. During the day they hang out together.
