Mark's 180 Starfire upgrade

Be curious to know what you think of your new led supplemental lighting Mark? I've often toyed with the idea of adding a few to add some more POP!~

Some of the new LED's are awesome, some are too purple for my liking. But like I said, I won't be doing any LED project for some time as I just spent a chunk of change on my reefing budget. I just bought my apex last month, more ZEO, a naoko, two new angels, two nanostreams for the shallow tank, a 300 gallon water storage container and a couple corals; and thats just been in the last 30 days :lol: My wallet needs a break before BAYMAc :thumbsup:

I'm running about $350 a month on T5's, no chiller, no nothing, barely ever home, and walk around in the dark when I am home :wildone:

Christ, you guys pay out the wazoo in Cali, with my setup (12x54w T5 and 1 250w MH over the frag tank), my total monthly electric bill for my 2B/2B condo runs 100-150...

Yeah I hear ya on a break for the wallet. I've given mine a pretty rigorous workout over the past year, lol!~ The wifey finally came down with the hammer and said I have been put on a budget for awhile. That's wife speak for NO MONEY for awhile, lol!~ Just the basics, maintenance items and what not....

That's alright though, I've got some nice stuff and just need to wait for it to grow in.

So... you've got a shallow tank going now, hmm??? What pray tell will you have in it? If you've already stated this I didn't see it.

Mark, if you had a choice for Actinic supp. would you go with T5 or try LED? I'm not a LED fan but I want some more color pop that I am not getting with my T5's. I'm debating trying some ATI bulbs or changing all together...............all this of course after I get a new skimmer and Regulator for my CA. RX.

I've had T5's, VHO's and LED's for supp lighting. T5's are a very distant 3rd. VHO's and LED's are tied in my mind, with the LED's using a fraction of the power.

Thanks. VHO is not an option as I don't have the space and have heard rumors for the past year that VHO bulbs were being outlawed/banned ( who knows if that is true or not).

The other issue is I don't want to spend a fortune on Supp. lighting just to get better color............heck I would be happy with a slew of Moonlight LED's as they always make the colors pop!
