Mark's 180 Starfire upgrade

I think you need to play like a bear in winter and go into hibernation for a while and stay away and off the the reefing boards with the chaos they tend to bring :hammer: Just keep with your inner group of reefing buddies and forget the rest :eek1:

I agree Sara. I even removed a few from my favorites so I would not be tempted to visit them. I usually only come here to the large tank forum, my local forum, & one other ;)

No matter what, its going to take some form of action for me either to enjoy the tank again like a do-over or tear it down and right now I do not have have that type of motivation :love1:

Understood ... maybe a mini makeover is what you need. Let Emma pick out some new fish and corals as that seems to be, from my perspective here on the boards, is what made you some really enjoyable times.

Can you tell from my post I'm pretty wound up myself? People never cease to amaze me! I guess I'll find you here and on the dark side ;)

Taking a break sounds nice, but not having a tank doesn't. Thats my quandry :p

I quandry that every weekend when I go camping/fishing etc and have to "get the tank prepared" for my trip away from home ;)

Money is a whole different story. My wife is just now finally starting to have an income again after being laid off for 1.5 years so I am right there with you. Luckly all of my recent purchases have been funded by the tank itself. Thoughts of downsizing always cross my mind but I know my heart would not be in it with a smaller system

In the end do what is best for the Family!

The cycle of life. It is what it is. It's no different in their world or ours. We can only attempt to change it to a certain degree. Enjoy it for what it is today. Appreciate it for what it will be tomorrow.

Well said Kenny!

Mark, do what makes it enjoyable for and forget the rest.

I know given an addictive personality (that I think we both have) dialing it back is difficult at least for me it was. I felt that I wasn’t obtaining the best results from my tank so I had to constantly work on doing something… anything to make it better or at least maintain what I had. I had to step back and realize that the effort/cost of seeking perfection (if there is such a thing and if I could attain it) was turning the hobby into a chore and that I had to dial it back or I'd eventually hate it. Not saying that it’s the case for you but it was for me and even then I sometimes catch myself slipping back again. If it’s a financial decision, then you gotta do what you gotta do as this is a hobby not a necessity. (Your mileage may vary, objects in the mirror are closer than they appear, etc.)

I would let Emma pick out the fish, but she has expensive taste :p

Camping? Is that sleeping on the couch when I ordered a new fish when my wife wanted some new jewlery :hammer:

Thanks Dan, I couldn't agree more. I was actually planning on skipping a water change this weekend *having second thoughts just thinking about it*

Well said too Dan!

Its also because of friends like you what makes this hobby what it is :p

LOL, the great outdoors is my first passion.................then this hobby came along:hammer:

Me too Rob. Why do you think this is my third Jeep? I grew up on the rubicon, stream fishing and in a aluminum boat trout fishing with my pops.
One of my first "real" dates with Amanda was a camping/fishing trip up to china flats. I needed to know if she was the kind of girl who could pee on a tree or not. Life was so simple back then before I set up another tank.

Ummm, I sure hope she peed next to it and not on it ... I'd have other questions if she could really hit the tree or not ;)

That's pretty funny Sara. What's sad about that trip is that I could not wait to go out fishing that morning rather than spending quality time with my future wife :D

LOL, many similarities. I had to make sure she could/would bait her own hook hahahaha! Back than I could leave for a week and not have to worry about the fresh water tanks:bounce2:

My oldest son went on his first camping trip @ 1.5 months old and my youngest @ 3 months old. I love me some Bass fishing, used to put together models but no time anymore. As my wife says "are you done with your mistress yet"..............refering to the tank of course:D

I was out last weekend going through some of my reels, rods and tackle (after pushing aside all of this misc reef crap) thinking of how nice it would be up on a mountain lake... I guess I can go back to dreaming :twitch:

LOL - That's typical for a guy Mark :love1:

I would disagree but I know its the truth. She just wanted to sit in a campchair by the stream with a book. I decided that was a good time to catch a few brookies :fish1:

Ya, I love Bass fishing and My wife loves the Trout. We did take a Trip to Pine crest Lake last year and that was some of the best Trout fishing I have ever seen! Nothing compared to wild brookies in a stream though!

Cool video!!
