Mark's 180 Starfire upgrade

sorry to hear that, what type of trouble are you experiencing? I just moved my echinata up from the original placement 8 inches, now its dead =(

Nothing too terrible, just a slow tank crash due to a few weeks of mis readings of alk kits.

The thing about the aussie echinatas is 1.) they are wild and 2.) they are delicate pieces. People, including myself, get caught up with these pieces since they are new and aussie, but they are still wild and you still take the same risks with them :(

Brian, I am still cutting up pieces so I just want to take the foot off the pedal. I will still be dosing start2 and bak while trying to let whatever it is run its course. I also have had a hard time feeling comfortable keeping my alk at 7 and I think that has been part of my problem. No matter what, I have a better understanding of carbon dosing and nutrient export. My wife even asked if I was going to go BB again

I can't blame you. I hope you luck changes and thing start to turn around :).

DID this all start after starting zeo?

Yep, but I know its not from the ZEO;) ZEOvit works and it worked for me until everything went haywire. I started ZEOvit the same month that the TOTM came out (can you say TOTM curse). I'm still surprised that anything is alive with everything that has gone on. I've only talked about half of the problems.

sorry to hear about the troubles, Mark - I'm sure with your track record, things will be back up eventually. Yeah, talk about the TOTM curse. :(

What caused the alk swing? Do you still change your water weekly?

Nothing too terrible, just a slow tank crash due to a few weeks of mis readings of alk kits.

Yes, I still do weekly water changes. Its kind of hard to keep a tank stable when you are wondering why corals are peeling when a test kit says everything is kosher and then you get another one of the same brand and its 6 dkh higher.

:eek2: Whoa! Sorry to hear about your troubles Mark. That's amazing that the test kits were so far off. Sucks that you (we) work so hard to create perfect conditions and something like this, totally out of your control causes problems :furious: Hopeing for the best.
