Mark's 180 Starfire upgrade

Very nice shots Mark! What camera/lens setup you using these days?

Thanks Erik. I'm still using the Nikon d90 and 105mm. Your tank is coming along quite nicely :eek2:

Looks great Mark!!!!!! I need some of that PPT

Thanks, but I'm not sure if I have enough to frag

Great pictures, Mark. Thanks for sharing them, and good luck in the new year!

Thanks. I think I'll let this thread go back into hibernation for a few months:fish2:

I hope everyone had a great holiday season and Happy New Year. Here's to another year of useless banter among friends and hobbyist alike. Good luck in 2011 and may your reef tanks bring you some joy and satisfaction

Yeah, he's posting again :celeb1:

Happy New Year Mark, hope you and your family have a great year filled with happy memories

Lookin good bro.couple of real sweet pics in there.

Thanks Dan (s) :p

I was happy with a few shots, but I was only planning on taking a FTS. The macros were free hand so some are not what they should of been. That, and I am way out of practice :beachbum:

No more pictures...Nothing more to see. Please go back to what you were doing before the commercial interuption

I am assuming the (s) is in re to the reef aquarium of Dan Rigle's lol
If not I am clueless.Brian missed that one :hmm3:

Never happy with any of my pics so I feel ya
but you have a few real sharp ones in the mix that I like alot.

R u shooting the FTS with the macro lens.I cannot get a FTS that I even remotely like with either of my lenses.I gotta work on that

I included both you and DanW in that post, thus the (s) :p

I shot the FTS with my 24-70mm. I hate FTS :spin2:

OK I gotch ya.If u look at the TOTM article it reads the reef aquarium of Dan Rigle's
I thought that what u were referring to.

I believe ther must be a better lens or some secret setting to get a FTS with a Nikon
My old point and shoot took a sweet FTS but I cannot get there with the DSL

Unbelievable colors Mark, looks like the tank is doing well. Best wishes for 2011!

Any tips how to bring out the purples in the coral like the second in post #3353?
I have a similar species and still didn't find the sweet spot to really color it up.

Happy New Year to you Mark and everyone else. Been mad busy with family and new baby Zedan hence didn't get much chance to post. Good win over Bolton ;). Nice macro shots and nice to see such a lovely colour in your corals. Got rid of my old Nikon D70 and now lokking for an upgrade, anything you would recommend?

Hello Leo, Happy 2011 :fish1:

As for that piece, I have no idea. I get my best results when it mid/high light, but not blasting it with light. It also seems to do better with indirect flow. I've grown this piece over a 5 year period as it started as a 1" frag.

Good luck :)

Haha........I highly doubt that. I find that as I get older, I think more about eating and sleeping, then eat and sleep some more :spin3:

I hear you about getting older Kenny. Getting old sucks; Luckily I have friends like you that I can lean on for advice
