Mark's 180 Starfire upgrade

Happy New Year to you Mark and everyone else. Been mad busy with family and new baby Zedan hence didn't get much chance to post. Good win over Bolton ;). Nice macro shots and nice to see such a lovely colour in your corals. Got rid of my old Nikon D70 and now lokking for an upgrade, anything you would recommend?

Greeting Tahir and once again Congrats on the new little one.

It was a great comeback win over Bolton. Stevie G, captain fantastic, saved our arses again. Right now I'm frustrated with the lack on consistency under Roy. It was good to see Agger and Aurelio in the back (even though it was Aurelio's stupid challenge that created their set piece).

As for camera's, that all depends on what lenses you have. If you have Nikon glass and you want to stick with Nikon, then I would get the D700 if that is the budget. The D90 is a great camera, but there is a big difference between it and the D700. The D300 is a decent option in between the two, but the D700 the best unless you want to jump into the D3 range. I have no problem recommending the D90 to people, but if I was to buy new and had the budget, I'd be all over the D700.

Did you make it to the last match? Almost 10k seats not filled at Anfield. Ouch, that's quite a statement!

Big game tomorrow. YNWA

Mark-

Have you tried out the 10.5mm Fisheye? Should make for killer FTS and even close ups. Im on the lookout for a deal on a used one.

Erik, I have played around with the 16mm f/2.8 fisheye before, but not the 10.5. I just could not justify it for my bag. I rarely shoot the tank these days and I just don't know how much I'd use it outside of that application.

Looking good Mark! My tank is depressing these days................too much time spent working and the tank shows it. Oh well I'm just Thank full to be employed and working enough hours for 2 people!

Hang in there Rob. The tank is just a hobby for you now :) I try to get some enjoyment out of it when I can. I actually feel sorry for those people that try to keep a tank for a status rather than just enjoying it.

It's all good I still love the hobby most days and only hate in some ;) Today is one of those hate days. My colors are coming back and the corals are starting to look decent, the algae is slowly dying off but today out of the blue my PM colony started RTN. I came home from the Dr. (found out today I need shoulder surgery) and was going to cut Tim a nice PM frag and noticed the RTN. I cut it up so we will see what happens!

I actually visited a LFS yesterday other than Johns for the first time in about 3+ months and it gave me a little itch so I plan on doing some things to the tank in the next few months time and shoulder permitting.

This thread is no longer about reef tanks; like it ever was

Sorry Rob, I don't have any Chaeto.

Ian, that's what fb is for ;) This thread is trying to die :uzi:

Very nice build, tank, and corals. I want to make my upgrade tank like yours and Dan's, but I had a quick question. If you can go back and make the tank again, would you change anything about the way you made it? There are so many thing I would like to change for my existing one and I don't want to make my furture one and do the same thing. Thanks

Thanks. As for any changes to the tank, I'm very happy with my tank. The only thing that I would like have done over is to have more room in my house for different dimesions. The tank "fits" my front room and the only way I would ever do a different tank is if we moved into a different place.

Thanks and good luck :)

You don't need "all" that space in your bedroom...Just knock a hole in the wall and build through it :) I'm sure the wife wouldn't even notice...
